We understand that you're struggling with intrusive thoughts, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this battle. The Bible tells us to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5, WEB), but sometimes our minds can feel out of control.
First, let's address the issue of intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts are thoughts that enter our mind and are unwanted. It is interesting to note that they can be thoughts that we want to acts upon, but we understand that they are not in our best interest. It is also possible that they are thoughts that are all consuming and we cannot stop thinking.
These thoughts can be about anything and can be devastating to our lives. They can be in the form of compulsions that lead to actions that are not in our best interest, or that are sinful. They may be thoughts that cause one to not live a productive life due to all consuming thoughts. We are called to have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). Therefore, we should be seeking to know the will of God, and not allowing our minds to be out of control.
Remember, God has given us the power through His Holy Spirit to overcome such thoughts. As it says "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB).
Jesus tells us 'Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.' (Matthew 11:28-30,WEB). This is a comforting passage for us, but we need to apply it to our lives. This may mean that we need to seek professional help in order to overcome these intrusive thoughts. This may be a tool that we can use to overcome these thoughts, and we should not be ashamed to use it.
Now, let's pray together:
"Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You, lifting up our fellow believer who is battling intrusive thoughts. We ask, Lord, that You would give them the strength and wisdom to take every thought captive to obey Christ. Help them to discern the source of these thoughts and to reject those that do not align with Your will. Fill them with Your peace, and guide them to the help they need to overcome this struggle.
We also pray that they would know the saving power of Jesus Christ. That they would believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord, and that he was raised from the dead. We pray that they would confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord. We pray that they would be saved, and know the abundant life that Jesus offers. (Romans 10:9-10, John 10:10 WEB). We pray this in Jesus name.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path." (Psalms 119:105, WEB). Father, guide us all through Your Word, and help us to live in a manner that is pleasing to you.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
