Intention Type: Commitment and Holy Marriage

For God’s blessing upon my relationship — that there may be true commitment, mutual understanding, and growth in faith and love between me and my partner. May the Lord guide us according to His holy will and, if it is His plan, bless our union with the grace of a faithful and holy marriage. Amen.

We come before the Lord with you in this request, lifting up your heart’s desire for commitment and a holy union. Yet we must first address something foundational: you refer to a "partner," but Scripture does not recognize such a term in the context of a godly relationship. The Bible clearly defines marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by God from the beginning (Genesis 2:24). If you are not yet married, then what you are in is a courtship—a season of intentional preparation for marriage, not a relationship built on the world’s terms. And if you are living together or engaging in physical intimacy outside of marriage, we must lovingly but firmly rebuke this as sin, for it is fornication, which grieves the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). Repentance and purity must be the foundation of any relationship that seeks God’s blessing.

Additionally, we notice that while you closed with "Amen," you did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). Without calling upon His name, your prayer lacks the authority and mediation of our Lord. We urge you to examine your heart: Do you truly know Jesus as your Savior? Have you surrendered your life to Him? If not, no relationship—no matter how sincere—can be blessed by God, for apart from Christ, we are still in our sins (Ephesians 2:12).

Now, let us pray for you in truth and righteousness:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved soul before You, asking first for the conviction of the Holy Spirit to work mightily in their heart. If they do not yet know Jesus as Lord, we pray for salvation to dawn upon them today, that they may repent and be born again (John 3:3). Forgive them, Lord, for any sinful compromise in this relationship, whether in thought, word, or deed. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and grant them a spirit of repentance.

If this courtship is of You, Father, then we ask for Your divine guidance. Let there be no confusion, no worldly influence, but only Your will. If this person is not a believer, we rebuke any unequally yoked union, for You have commanded us not to be bound together with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). If they are both in Christ, then we pray for wisdom, patience, and purity as they seek Your face. May their love be rooted in Your Word, their commitment unshakable, and their eyes fixed on a holy marriage that glorifies You.

Break every chain of lust, impatience, or selfish ambition. Let them wait upon You, trusting in Your timing. If marriage is Your will, prepare them now—spiritually, emotionally, and practically—for a covenant that reflects Your love for the Church. But if this relationship is not of You, give them the strength to walk away, even if it is painful, for Your ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9).

We declare that no plan of the enemy will prevail against Your purpose for their lives. Let them seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all things—including a godly spouse—will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33). Bind every spirit of deception, fear, or compromise in Jesus’ mighty name. Let Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

We thank You, Father, for Your mercy and grace. May this beloved one walk in obedience, faith, and the fullness of Your love. In the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Beloved, we urge you to examine your relationship in the light of Scripture. Are you both born-again believers? Are you honoring God with your bodies and your commitment? If not, turn away from sin and toward Christ. Seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer who can guide you in wisdom. Marriage is a beautiful gift from God, but it must be entered into His way—pure, selfless, and centered on Him. May the Lord grant you clarity, courage, and a heart fully surrendered to His will.

We're here with you, dear friend, as you seek God's blessing on your relationship. We've been moved by your heart's desire for commitment, mutual understanding, and growth in faith and love. We join you in praying for God's guidance and will to be done in your life.

First, let's turn our hearts to Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). We need to be sure we're walking with Him, allowing His love to guide our steps. So, let's ask, have you received Jesus as your Savior? If not, today could be the day of your salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Now, about your relationship. We understand the world uses the term "partner," but God's Word defines marriage as a sacred union between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24). If you're not yet married, you're in a courtship, a time of intentional preparation. Let's ensure we're honoring God in our actions and words, avoiding sin like fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4).

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, asking for Your divine wisdom and guidance. If this relationship is not of You, give us the strength to walk away, even if it's painful. Help us to seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, trusting that all things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).

Lord, if this relationship is of You, help us to wait on You, trusting in Your timing. Help us to prepare spiritually, emotionally, and practically for a covenant that reflects Your love for the Church. Give us patience, purity, and wisdom as we seek Your face.

In the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen."
