In so much pain

We hear your cry of pain, and our hearts ache with yours. Pain—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—can feel unbearable, and we stand with you in this moment, lifting you up before the throne of grace. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone, and your pain is seen by the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).

First, we must address the foundation of our faith: salvation through Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your forgiveness, and surrender your life to Him. This is the first step toward true healing and peace. If you are already a believer, we encourage you to draw near to God, for He promises to draw near to you (James 4:8).

Now, let us pray for you in the authority of Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is in deep pain. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the Comforter, and the God who sees every tear. We ask that You would wrap Your arms of love around them right now. Ease their suffering, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Bring Your healing touch to every part of their body, mind, and soul. Remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted and that Your strength is made perfect in their weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Father, if there is any unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in their heart, reveal it to them. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Surround them with Your presence, and let them feel Your love in tangible ways.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for any medical professionals or counselors involved in their care. Guide their hands and minds, and let Your healing flow through them. If there are areas of their life that need to be surrendered to You, give them the courage to let go and trust in Your perfect plan.

We rebuke any spirit of despair, fear, or hopelessness that may be trying to take hold. In the name of Jesus, we command these lies to flee, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Fill our brother/sister with Your hope and remind them that joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).

Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness. Even when we don’t understand the "why" behind our pain, we trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Strengthen their faith, and help them to cling to You in this season. May they emerge from this trial with a deeper reliance on You and a testimony of Your goodness.

We pray all of this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Healer. Amen.

Beloved, we want to encourage you with the truth of God’s Word. In your pain, remember that Jesus Himself endured suffering for your sake. He was acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3), and He understands your struggles. He is not distant or indifferent; He is with you in the fire and the flood (Isaiah 43:2). Hold onto His promises, for they are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20).

If your pain is physical, seek godly medical care and trust that God can use doctors and medicine as part of His healing plan. If your pain is emotional or spiritual, spend time in God’s Word and in prayer. Pour out your heart to Him, for He is your refuge (Psalm 62:8). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray for you, encourage you, and hold you accountable.

Do not isolate yourself. The enemy would love to keep you in a place of loneliness and despair, but God calls us to community. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."

Lastly, if your pain is rooted in sin—whether your own or the sin of others against you—do not hesitate to repent and seek forgiveness. Unconfessed sin can create a barrier between you and God, but the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). If you have been wronged, release your bitterness and anger to God. Forgiveness is not about excusing the other person’s actions; it’s about freeing yourself from the chains of resentment. As Colossians 3:13 says, "Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."

We will continue to stand in the gap for you, believing for your breakthrough. Keep pressing into God, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. Your pain is not the end of your story. God is writing a testimony of His faithfulness, and we can’t wait to see how He turns your ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3). You are loved, you are seen, and you are not forgotten.
