In Search Of Wisdom.

Sermon notes: August 4,2013.

What can set the captive free
What can satisfy my soul
Lord Jesus be my arm
The riches that were spilled to restore me to my king no more fear and no more guilt.
Blood of Jesus be my all

1 Peter 1:18-19

€ - In search of wisdom - €

• How many children have heard the word "Wisdom"?
• one mans blood payed it all. Your sins, past present and future.
• a Sunday school teacher said that they don't teach kids about the blood of Jesus Christ because its too strong a word for them.
• now when have you heard a believer or a follower of Christ say now I'm just flabbergasted by the blood of Jesus Christ who died to rid me of my sins.
• God has a plan for your life and its be the best plan.
• If God has a plan for your life, and life is short.
• He has a plan for you personally.
• when God created the earth he said let us make man in our own image.
• because He made us so that he can personally relate to us.
• that there would be something within us like Him.
• he wanted to live his life out through you.
• in his image not by sight, but by spirit.
• think about this, and how important your life is.
• for some reason he gave you an opportunity to be alive.
• meaning He has a plan for you
• God has given the gift of wisdom to all willing to seek it.
- Proverbs 2:1-7
• that plan starts with trusting Christ as our personal savior
• how do I find wisdom?
• by seeking it
- Proverbs 2 :2; 6-7

• It comes from God
-Proverbs 8:17
• if you seek God you will find Him.
• we acquire wisdom by meditating in Gods word
- Provers 4:10-11
• if you are living in obedience to God and wisdom you will have less worry and stress.
•Meaning you'll live longer.
• when God gave us his word it was written for us to guide ourself by it, to learn about him.
- Proverbs 5:1
• when you get up in the morning you should read the word of God even if its just a verse or two.
• don't just read through the bible, but give attention to His wisdom.
• he is willing to give us wisdom if we are willing to incline out ear to understanding.
• the world around you is living an unwise life.
•the God who breathed life into us, is the same God who gave us his word to teach us how to live and walk wisely.
- Proverbs 9:10
• he is willing to help you to live out your life and not waste it
• how many of you enjoy wasting your time?
• when you wake up do you ask God what he wants to do today in your life? what it is that he wants you to do?
• James 1:5-6
• if any of you lack wisdom ask God.
• The first question when you encounter a problem should be "God how do you want me to respond?"
• this world is living foolishly.
• you must live wisely, asking him for wisdom and direction.
• before you get out of bed every morning ask him to give you Wisdom for the day. To understand others, what it is they say and don't say. Not to live life in a rush but not to waste it either.
• a parent wants to mature their children, Just as god wants to mature us.
• many times we say I want to be like him or her, or have this and that just as so and so does. I wish I could go to such place just as they do, and do such things just as they do.
• don't want what others have. Because you don't know the consequences of their life style.
• when you find yourself thinking this way, you need to ask yourself "what are the consequences of living as they do, acting and going where they go."
• if I have to have the live or endure the consequences of what they have, Then i don't want what they have or want to go where they are going.
•you may ask what are the consequences of living such life style?
• the consequences many times is not being wise. Not living wisely.
- How do we acquire wisdom?
~ We acquire wisdom by observing how god works in the world.
• proverbs 6:6
• do you have a sense of direction?
• go to the ants and observed her ways and be wise
• ants are organized, energetic, they have goals.
• you can mess up what they are doing, and they will go right back to work on what it was they were doing.
• imagine how big you look to an ant yet their not intimidated.
• An eagle has to calculate the size of a fish and wether they could take it or not in order to not sink down, when attempting to catch their prey, and all must be done in seconds.
• Now if god put that much sense in an eagle. Imagine the plans and the potentials he has set in you, who are made in his image. You who are his special creation.
• When I look at nature I think about how foolish I am.
• we self destruct, you don't see birds or anything else drinking anything that destruct them, and they can't smoke.
~ We become wise by heeding Godly counsel.
• Proverbs 12:15
• the way of a fool is rich in his own eyes but the Wise man is he, who listen to counsel.
•there is never a time where you are so smart, or so experience, or so educated that you will have all the answers to absolutely everything.
• you don't have all the answers but God does.
• God may send someone into your life you give you counsel.
• he uses all kinds of people to speak to us.

• if someone tells you "do you mind if I tell you something?" don't turn a deaf ear
• it may not be Godly counsel but at least your willing to listen.
• if you turn a deaf ear to everything you don't want to hear, you may turn a deaf ear to all mighty God.
• ask God to teach you how to listen
• God will give you discernment on what is wise and what is wrong.
• if you walk the pathway of wisdom your life will be replenish with joy and peace.
•Provers 15:31
• Do you have wise friends, or friends who don't make you feel as guilty when your with them?
• proverbs 19:20
• we should all grow wisdom wise and in our relationship with God.
• you may ask well when do I stop growing in wisdom?
- You stop growing In wisdom when to stop listening to god.
- when you look at the world and want to be like them.
• who are your friends?
• are they people who contribute to your godliness and obedience?
• are they people whom you want your sons and daughters to be just like?
~ We acquire wisdom by relating ourself with the wise man.
• which group is the most popular to be with, most likely it will be the foolish ones.
• Proverbs 13:20
• the companion of fools will suffer harm
• they who live foolishly would look back at their life and regret things.
• you may say " well I have some mighty fine friend, but they are fools."
• you will be a fool if you see them rebelling against god, and doing all the wrong things that the bible states you shouldn't do and join them anyways.
• you'll be a bigger fool, for you knew the truth and you joined them.
• you can't violate a principle
• don't think "that can't happen to me" because it can.
• that is what all the alcoholics and drug addicts etc... Once said " it can't happen to me."
• that may be one of the biggest deceit we tell ourselves.
• if you choose those people to be your friends your saying, "I like that" and to some extent "that's what I want to be like."
• whatever you sow you will reap
• who ever you walk with continuously, is who you will become like.
• what does the bible say about the consequences of people who live a foolish life?
• are those the consequences you want for yourself?
• Ecclesiastes 8:1
• a mans wisdom, causes his stern face to shine.
• when your happy it reflects In your face and vice versa with all the other emotions.
• if you have it, show it.
• Ecclesiastes 2:26
• when you live a life of wisdom, He (God) will take from the not wise and give to his children.
• Ecclesiastes 10:10
• if the axe is dull then the user must exert more strength.
• if you go to the forest with a dull axe and hit it against a tree, it will bounce of, but if its sharpened it will clip right in.
• foolish living dulls the axe, but godly living sharpens the axe.
• if you follow Gods simple plan for your life, it means you and God are in great terms.
• You may not be famous and rich on this earth but you are in Gods way, in his path, which will grant you eternal life.
• the plans He has for you are beyond your comprehension.
• if your not a believer why not?
• because you don't believe the bible or what people say?
• you can't claim wisdom living
outside the will of God.
• read the word of God and let him show you wether is true or not.
•in the privacy of your own ask God " I'm I wise or I'm I living the like the fool?"
• ask God before you act or make a decision "what is the wisest thing for me to do?"

- May God bless you and open your eyes and ears so that seeing you may understand and hearing you may listen.
