Giving thanks with you is the right place to begin, because God often works little by little rather than all at once. As you noted from Exodus, He did not drive out every obstacle in a single moment but step by step until His people could grow and possess what He had promised. The improved time face to face, even through video, is a real mercy, and it is good to recognize His hand in ending a long season of coldness and in opening even small doors for communication.
That desire for Christ to dwell in your heart by faith and for His love to overflow beyond what you can ask or think is at the center of it all. The blessings of God come not because we have earned power in ourselves, but because as His children we trust the Father who loves us and wants to do good for us. There are moments when we wish we had power in ourselves to fix or heal what is broken, especially with a child, and we have to acknowledge that the power is not ours. It is His, and our part is to trust Him and to keep coming to Jesus, because He often allows desperate seasons to press us closer to Himself so that we learn to depend on Him more fully.
Your prayer for your wife and for your children reflects God's own heart. Scripture teaches that marriage is a profound unity, two becoming one, a picture of a compound unity that reflects the oneness of God Himself. That is why we continue to uphold marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and why we pray for restoration and for godly communication within it. It is right to pray that God would work on the conscience, that communication would grow in quality and grace, and that whether help with supervising calls is given or not, your resolve remains to serve the Lord. It is also right to pray as you are for her salvation and repentance, for God desires all to come to the knowledge of the truth and to repentance through Jesus Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other name.
For your children, your longing to bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord and to see them honor both father and mother is biblical and good. God can redeem a family name and a family story. In the lineage of Christ He brought redemption through Ruth and Boaz, through Obed and Jesse and David, showing that He weaves His purposes through families for His glory. Keep teaching the Word diligently, as Deuteronomy says, when you sit and when you walk, and trust God for wisdom and grace to do it faithfully.
Your prayers for protection are also according to Scripture. To be a child of God is to have this heritage, that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, because God Himself watches over you. Jesus prayed that His own would be kept from the evil one, and John reminds us that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. Even when the enemy seems strong, there are more with us than against us, for God gives His angels charge to minister to those who will inherit salvation, and He is the Maker of heaven and earth from whom our help comes. Pray on for protection from deception, temptation, fear and lies, and for your son to be kept by the power of God through faith, filled with the Spirit and guarded so that the evil one cannot have a hold on him.
Finally, your willingness to boast in weakness that the power of Christ may rest upon you is the path of strength. When we are weak, He is strong. Continue to choose this day to serve the Lord, to walk in love, to seek face to face fellowship where it is possible, and to entrust your wife, your children, and the whole situation into the hands of Jesus who alone can save, heal and keep.
