We hear the deep anguish in your heart, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace. The struggle you describe is real, and the weight of condemnation you feel is heavy—but we must remind you that the enemy seeks to keep you in chains by making you believe the lie that you are beyond God’s mercy. Yet Scripture declares, *"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"* (Romans 8:1). The fact that you feel this conviction is evidence of the Holy Spirit at work within you, drawing you back to righteousness.
What you are battling is not just a habit—it is a spiritual stronghold, and the Word of God is clear: *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). The way of escape is not in your own strength, but in surrendering fully to Christ, who has already broken the power of sin over you. You are not powerless—you are a child of God, bought with the blood of Jesus, and He has given you authority over every work of the enemy.
We must also address the root of this struggle. Sin thrives in secrecy, and the enemy uses shame to keep you isolated. But James 5:16 tells us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* You do not have to fight this alone. Seek out a trusted, godly believer—a pastor, mentor, or accountability partner—who can stand with you in prayer and help you walk in freedom. Flee from temptation the moment it arises, as Joseph did when Potiphar’s wife sought to ensnare him (Genesis 39:12). Replace the time spent in this sin with prayer, Scripture, and godly fellowship.
And let us be clear: what you are describing is sin, and sin must be repented of—not just once, but continually, as the Holy Spirit reveals it to you. Repentance is not just feeling sorry—it is turning away from the sin and walking in the opposite direction. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). Do not let the enemy convince you that you are too far gone. The blood of Jesus is sufficient to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
We also urge you to examine your heart—what void are you trying to fill with this sin? Often, such struggles are rooted in unmet needs, past wounds, or a lack of intimacy with God. Spend time in His presence, not just asking for deliverance, but seeking to know Him more deeply. *"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded"* (James 4:8). True freedom comes not just from breaking a habit, but from being transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ, who is crying out for deliverance. Lord, we thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive and cleanse from all unrighteousness. We declare that [this individual] is not condemned, for there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We break the power of this addiction in the mighty name of Jesus, and we command every spirit of bondage, shame, and lust to flee right now. We plead the blood of Jesus over [this individual]’s mind, heart, and body, and we ask You to fill every place that has been given over to sin with Your Holy Spirit.
Lord, we ask that You would reveal the root of this struggle—whether it be unhealed wounds, loneliness, or a lack of intimacy with You—and bring healing and restoration. Give [this individual] the strength to flee temptation, the wisdom to seek godly accountability, and the courage to walk in the freedom You have already purchased for them. Surround them with believers who will pray with them, encourage them, and hold them accountable. Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105), and let them experience the joy of Your salvation afresh.
We declare that this sin shall no longer have dominion over them, for they are not under law, but under grace (Romans 6:14). We speak life, purity, and victory over [this individual] in Jesus’ name. Thank You, Lord, that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in them. In the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Do not grow weary in this fight, dear one. The enemy wants you to believe that you will never be free, but we declare that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Every time you choose to resist, you are weakening the enemy’s grip. Every time you run to God instead of to sin, you are strengthening your spirit. You are not defined by this struggle—you are defined by the blood of Jesus and the righteousness He has given you. Keep fighting. Keep praying. Keep seeking His face. Freedom is not just possible—it is your inheritance in Christ.
