Disciple of Prayer
I'm sorry for the length of my request but a better explanation helps with more concentrated prayers.
My mother who has been in hospice since September and is now in the final stages of life. Doctors all say she has no life threatening illnesses keeping her from fully recovering, she's just given up trying to get better, She won't eat or even sit up in the bed. She told my sister that since my father died 2 years ago she has nothing left to live for. 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren tell a different story but she's been on some heavy narcotics and letting depression overtake her in the last year, this is nothing like the mother who raised 5 kids. In August she was living independently, running a small business from home and still driving. Gallstones and an infection put her in the hospital originally and it was serious at first but instead of recovering normally she insisted on being placed in hospice and said she doesn't plan on ever leaving. We can't just stand by and let this happen, she's always been a fighter and taught us all to never, ever give up while there's the smallest chance of life left so we're doing just that because she truly has so much to live for. A doctor close to our family and experienced in crisis situations told us that usually if someone really wants to die they will find a much quicker way than spending months in hospice. Reaching them in the right way can save their lives but so far in my mother's case no one has.
Prayer is our only hope now and faith that God will heal her mind, body and spirit. Her name is Mary, please pray for her full recovery and to return her to a positive belief that she has everything to live for and the will to fight the depression and work to get her life back. Thank you for all your prayers and may God bless.
