I’m at a place where I’m doubting God’s plan for me

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I was on a good trajectory, then everything came crashing down (been ###-### years now). Psychotic after psychotic episode, I had to take medication. I wanted to be a doctor but got kicked out of medical school despite my stellar undergraduate performance. I fell in love with the wrong people. I’m a shriveled shell of who I used to be, am lazier slower my brain hurts and I can’t concentrate, I’m unable to rise to my potential. It’s been ###-### years. I don’t know what’s my fault and what’s God’s will. I’m at the end of the line. What do I do? I fear God’s plan and don’t trust it anymore.

"text": "We hear the deep anguish in your words, and our hearts ache with you as you walk through this valley of shadows. The pain of shattered dreams, the weight of unanswered questions, and the exhaustion of battling both mental and emotional struggles are not lost on us. You are not alone in this fight, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting you up in prayer and seeking God’s wisdom for your life.\n\nFirst, we must address the foundation of your faith. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life fully to Him, confessing your sins and trusting in His sacrifice for your redemption. Jesus said, \"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest\" (Matthew 11:28). He is the source of true peace, even in the midst of life’s storms.\n\nYour struggle with doubt is not uncommon, but we must rebuke the lie that God’s plan for you is anything less than good. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, \"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,\" says Yahweh, \"thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.\" Even when circumstances seem bleak, God’s promises remain true. The enemy would love for you to believe that your potential is wasted, but we declare that God is not finished with you. He can redeem every broken piece and use it for His glory (Romans 8:28).\n\nWe must also address the reality of your mental health struggles. While medication and professional help are not sinful—they can be God’s provision for healing—we encourage you to seek godly counsel, both spiritually and medically. The psalmist cried out, \"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God!\" (Psalm 42:5). Your brain and body are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and God cares deeply about your suffering.\n\nAs for your relationships, we must gently but firmly rebuke any patterns of pursuing those who do not align with God’s design for love and marriage. The Bible warns, \"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers\" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If you have fallen into sin in these areas, repent and ask God to redirect your heart toward His will. He desires for you to walk in purity and wisdom, seeking a spouse who loves Him above all else.\n\nYour past failures—whether in medical school or elsewhere—do not define you. God’s grace is greater than all our mistakes. \"Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow\" (Isaiah 1:18). We encourage you to seek His face, asking Him to reveal His purpose for this season. Perhaps He is calling you to a different path, one you haven’t yet considered. Trust that He is working even when you cannot see it.\n\nLet us pray for you now:\n\nHeavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother in his pain and confusion. Lord, You see the depths of his struggle—his weariness, his doubt, and his fear. We ask that You would meet him in this dark place and remind him of Your unfailing love. Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him he is forgotten or forsaken. You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and we declare that You have not abandoned him.\n\nLord, we pray for healing—spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Where there is despair, bring hope. Where there is confusion, bring clarity. Where there is shame, bring Your cleansing grace. Renew his mind, restore his strength, and help him to trust in Your perfect plan, even when it is unseen.\n\nWe ask that You would guide his steps, showing him the next right thing to do. If there are areas of sin in his life, convict him gently and lead him to repentance. If there are relationships that do not honor You, give him the courage to walk away. Father, we pray for godly friendships and mentors to surround him, people who will speak truth and encouragement into his life.\n\nAbove all, Lord, we ask that You would draw him closer to Yourself. Let him feel Your presence in tangible ways. Remind him that his worth is found in You alone, not in his achievements or the approval of others. May he find rest in Your sovereignty and peace in Your promises.\n\nWe trust You, God, to work all things together for his good. Strengthen his faith, deepen his dependence on You, and use his story for Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.\n\nYou are not at the end of the line—you are in the hands of a God who specializes in making beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3). Keep seeking Him, keep fighting for faith, and trust that He is leading you, even when the path is unclear. We are standing with you, believing for His best in your life."

We hear you, dear one. We're right here with you, holding your hand as you navigate this uncertain path. It's like walking through a dense fog, isn't it? One step at a time, we trust that God is leading us, even when we can't see the way clearly.

First, let's remind ourselves of who we are in Christ. We are His beloved children, chosen, redeemed, and loved unconditionally. No matter what circumstances we face, that truth remains steadfast. So, let's anchor ourselves in that love today. Let's declare it out loud, "I am the beloved of God. I am chosen. I am redeemed. I am loved."

Now, about your situation, we want to encourage you to keep seeking God's face. Keep asking Him to reveal His purpose for this season. It might feel like you're in a holding pattern, but remember, God is never idle. He's always working, even when we can't see it. Trust that He has a plan, a good plan, and He's working it out for your good.

As for your mental health, please, please keep seeking help. Whether it's medication, therapy, or both, don't hesitate to reach out to professionals. They can be God's provision for your healing. And remember, there's no shame in seeking help. It's a sign of strength, not weakness.

Also, let's not forget to lean into community. Reach out to trusted friends, mentors, or even a church community. Share your burdens with them. They can't carry them for you, but they can certainly help lighten the load.

And finally, dear one, keep praying. Keep crying out to God. He hears you. He sees you. He's right there with you, every step of the way. Trust in Him. Trust in His love. Trust in His plan.

We're praying for you, dear one. We're believing with you for breakthrough, for healing, for clarity. You're not alone. We're in this together. Let's keep walking, one step at a time, trusting in our loving Father. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want you to know how deeply we have carried your heart before the Lord these past days. Your honesty about the weight of shattered dreams, the lingering effects of illness, and the wrestling with God’s plan has moved us to pray with even greater tenderness. We have asked our Father to meet you in the quiet places where doubt and fear try to take root—to remind you that His love is not measured by your circumstances, but by the cross.

We’ve prayed for healing—of your mind, your focus, and the deep weariness that comes from years of carrying this load. We’ve asked God to restore your sense of purpose, not as the world defines it, but as He does: a purpose shaped by His faithfulness, not your performance. And we’ve pleaded with Him to show you, in ways only He can, that His plan for you is still good, even when the path feels broken.

If the Lord has begun to lift this burden in any way—if there’s been even a flicker of hope, a moment of clarity, or a whisper of His presence—we would be so encouraged to hear it. But if the struggle still feels heavy, please know we are not walking away. We will keep standing with you, lifting your name before the throne, trusting that God sees what you cannot yet see.

You are not at the end of the line. You are in the hands of the One who writes stories far greater than we can imagine. Keep seeking Him, even when it feels like wandering. He is near to the brokenhearted, and He has not forgotten you.

We continue to pray in Jesus’ Name.
