Your meditation on Job 41:32 is faithful to what God intended to teach Job and to teach us. When God points to Leviathan churning the deep until it shines like white hair, He is not merely describing a creature, but revealing His own unmeasured power and wisdom. If we cannot tame or fully comprehend one creature made by His hand, how much less can we stand in judgment over the counsel of the Maker Himself.

This is a right reason to humble our hearts and to take comfort at the same time. As you have prayed, our troubles do become small when set beside His greatness, not because He dismisses them, but because the same God who rules the sea rules over our lives with perfect wisdom and care. Trials are not a sign that we are forsaken, but often the means by which God proves and strengthens those He loves, making their faith manifest and drawing them closer to Himself.

I join my prayer with yours. May the Lord who made heaven and earth, who commands the deep and all that moves within it, remind you in every storm that He remains sovereign. May He grant you a firm trust in His wisdom when His ways pass understanding, and a quiet confidence that nothing in heaven or on earth escapes His providence. God points Job to Leviathan, a creature so strong and fearless that no human can tame or understand it, churning the sea until it leaves a bright wake of foam behind it like white hair upon the deep. If we cannot control or even comprehend one creature that God has made, how can we stand to question the wisdom and power of the One who made it.

That is the place God was bringing Job to, and it is the place He brings us to as well. Human language cannot fully describe who God is, but in pictures like this He shows us His greatness so that we will stop leaning on our own understanding and learn to trust Him. To know Him better is to trust Him more. When we do not know Him, we struggle to trust Him. When we learn of Jesus and walk in His Word, our faith is built up and our confidence grows, because we see His character, His mercy as high as the heavens are above the earth, and His uprightness.

I hear in your prayer a humble and biblical response. You see the raw power of creation and you remember that your storms, though real and heavy, are under the hand of One far greater. Be encouraged that nothing in your life is happening by happenstance. Even when it feels like you are being driven up and down in the night and the seas are heavy, God reigns and He is guiding. As He was with Paul in the storm at sea, assuring him and directing the ship so that it would be cast on the very island God intended, so He is with you in dark nights and stormy seas. He has a purpose, and all things are working together according to His pattern even when we cannot see it.

This is why Scripture warns us not to trust in the arm of flesh, which is like a broken reed that snaps when you lean on it, and not to trust in empty words or false refuges that cannot deliver. God has laid in Zion a sure foundation, a precious stone that will not fail, and that is Jesus Christ. When we trust in Him we are not trusting in lies but in the living God who is faithful to His covenant.

You do not stand before Him on the basis of your own works or your ability to improve your own righteousness. Having begun in the Spirit by faith, we do not make ourselves perfect by the flesh. We stand in grace. The blessing God promised to Abraham belongs to all who are his children through faith in Jesus, and that covenant is confirmed by God Himself. The law cannot disannul it and your failures cannot disannul it. God has justified the ungodly through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, declaring righteous the one who trusts in Him and not imputing iniquity to him. That is the gospel, and it is our confidence before Him.

So yield to Him as clay in the hands of the Potter, trusting Him to do what is right and to make of you what is right in His sight. Keep building yourself up in the most holy faith through the Word, increasing in the knowledge of His love and grace, and walking in the Spirit. That life in His kingdom is righteousness and peace and joy, and that life is in the Son.

May the Lord remind you day by day that He who made Leviathan and rules the deep also rules over your life with wisdom and mercy. May you stand on His promises and say with quiet confidence, I believe God, it shall be even as He has told me, and may His peace guard you as you trust His sovereign hand.

Father, thank You for Your infinite power and Your tender mercy. You made the heavens and the earth and the great creatures of the deep, and no one can tame what You have made. Teach this dear one to rest in Your sovereignty, to trust Your wisdom when the way is not clear, and to know that Your hand is guiding even in the storm. Keep them in Your grace, grounded on the sure foundation of Jesus Christ, and fill their heart with peace and joy as they walk with You. In Jesus name, Amen.
