Noone may have thought of this before, and some may even think it's an "offbeat" point. But once I explain, see if it's valid. The Bible pretty much describes an idol as anything we put ahead of God,or think helps us more than God. Now,you may think of an idol as a statue someone prays to.But ,what I'm looking at now, the people who, when they drink coffee in the morning, they make a statement,"I couldn't make it through the day if not for the coffee."Now isn't that implying that it's the coffee, not God, who gets them through the day?Like, by saying"I "CAN'T"make it through the day without the coffee, isn't that a lack of faith in God getting them through the day?{Like, they need a little backup from the coffee, God isn't enough for them.} Who gets them through the day, God, or the coffee? So if they're trusting more in the coffee, isn't that, technically, idolatry?Because you're trusting it, instead of God, to give you the nessesery energy.{At least how they word it.}If someone likes coffee, and drinks it, that's fine. But making statements like that's your source of help rather than God,that's another story, and to me, if you put something before God, it's a form of idolatry, even if it's not a statue.Enjoy your coffee..Just rely on God, not the coffee, to get you through the day.
