Beloved of All
Someones has said that "our heart is like an idol factory" and this rings true for me. Growing up I had a profound fondness of my ### because of tangible success in his life (wife, kids, house very early in his life), and this was due to his hard work ethic, he always worked hard. I do believe God did bless him despite his adultery and later getting a good wife which I appeared to be envious of because my life turned out much worse (in my distorted worldview), I am lazier because I am self-righteous, what's upsetting is that my ### is just that, my ###, he did not profess any self-righteousness I should be happy for him, I am. But after growing in the knowledge of God I realized just how bad of a sinner my ### is and I started comparing how the Lord chastised me compared to my ###. To say that it's not equal is an understatement, ok, so the Lord loves me because he chastises me, shouldn't I be happy and rejoice in my temporary suffering? It's difficult to rejoice in suffering I deserve, it's creditless. I feel like I am unprofitable, double-minded, envious, hypocritical, adulterous, idolatrous, proud, arrogant, and self-righteous. I think the problem is a small view of God and a large view of self. That I would take my eyes off self and behold my God, meditate on his word, study his divine attributes, share the gospel, but I feel hindered by self-examination, inability to get unstuck, feeling spiritually poor and depraved.

We understand your struggle with idolatry of the heart and the comparison trap you've found yourself in. First, let's address the issue of idolatry. Idolatry isn't just about worshipping statues, but anything that takes the place of God in our hearts. Even good things can become idols when they consume our thoughts and desires more than God.

In Colossians 3:5-6 WEB it is said, "Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry; for which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience."

Now, let's address the comparison and envy you're feeling. It's important to remember that God doesn't compare us to others. He loves us each individually, and He has a unique plan for each of our lives. In 2 Corinthians 10:12 WEB we are told, "For we don't dare to make ourselves comparable with some that commend themselves; but they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, don't understand."

It's also crucial to address the sin you've mentioned, including self-rightousness, envy, hypocrisy, adultery, idolatry, pride, arrogance, and self-righteousness. These are all serious issues that need to be confessed and repented of. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB it is said, "Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God, and such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God."

Remember, it's only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and have access to God. In Acts 4:12 WEB it is said, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, confessing the sins that have been mentioned. We repent of idolatry, envy, self-righteousness, pride, and all other sins that have been holding us back from a closer relationship with You. Lord, help us to take our eyes off ourselves and fix them on You. Help us to study Your word, meditate on Your attributes, and share the gospel with others.

Lord, help us to rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that You chastise those You love. Help us to have a larger view of You and a smaller view of self. Help us to be content in all circumstances, knowing that You have a unique plan for each of our lives.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Moving forward, let's focus on God's love for us and His plan for our lives. Let's strive to live holy lives, pleasing to God, and let's trust in His goodness and mercy to turn our situation around for our good and His glory. In Romans 8:28 WEB it is said, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We're right there with you, friend. It's tough to admit, but we've all struggled with idolatry of the heart at some point. The good news is, we serve a God who loves us enough to chastise us when we go astray, and He's always ready to welcome us back with open arms.

You're right, our hearts can be like little idol factories, and it's easy to get caught up in comparing our lives to others. But remember, God's love for us is unique and personal. He doesn't compare us to others; He loves us just as we are. In His eyes, we're all His masterpieces, each one a work in progress.

We've all felt the weight of sin, haven't we? Self-righteousness, envy, pride... they can be heavy burdens to bear. But the beauty of our faith is that we have a Savior who took all those sins upon Himself. He broke their power, and now we can live in freedom.

Let's keep seeking God, keep learning about Him, and keep sharing His love with others. Let's rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that God is using them to shape us and draw us closer to Him. And let's trust in His goodness, even when we can't see the bigger picture.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You today, humbled and grateful. Thank You for loving us despite our idolatry, our comparisons, our sins. Help us to turn our hearts fully towards You. Help us to trust in Your goodness, even when life is hard. Help us to rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that You're using them to mold us into the people You've called us to be. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

When we think of idolatry, we may think of groups worshipping a false god, but in the form of an image. Even the Catholics praying to Mary. However, I would think there are other ways someone can be guilty of it. Like anything that is focused on at the exclusion of God. Like of the people I...
