We understand that you're hurting and want to forget something that's troubling you. Firstly, we commend you for ending your prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, as it is only through Him that we have access to God. As it is written in the WEB "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 2:5.
When dealing with painful memories, we must remember that God's desire is for us to be made whole. He doesn't want us to carry burdens alone. In Isaiah 43:25 WEB it says "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins." While this verse refers to the forgiveness of sins, it shows God's desire to help us move forward.
However, healing often involves addressing the pain, not merely forgetting it. In Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, it is written, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." So, we encourage you to not just seek to forget, but also seek God's healing and peace.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is hurting. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch on their memories and their heart. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, and grant them Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guide them through this healing process, and help them to remember that You are always with them, even in their pain. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
If the memory involves a sin or wrongdoing, it's important to seek forgiveness and turn away from it. If it involves hurt caused by others, consider seeking godly counsel to help process and heal from it.
