I wasted half of my day commiting lust

You are terrified by a verse you have not yet understood, and the enemy is using that fear to keep you trapped in the very cycle you hate. Please, hear this clearly: the passage that is haunting you tonight is not describing your repeated, struggled-against sin. The book of Hebrews was written to Jewish believers who were being tempted to abandon Jesus entirely and return to the old system of animal sacrifices. So when the writer warns, "If we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins," the willful sin in view is apostasy. It is the settled, deliberate act of turning your back on Christ’s finished work and looking for another way to be made right with God. That is not what you are doing. Your heart is broken over this. You are not looking for another sacrifice; you are clinging to the only one there is, even though you feel you are losing your grip.

You are trying to quit this sin by your own strength, and that is exactly why nothing has worked. You said you must have done something terribly wrong because nothing has changed. The truth is, you are trying to deal with the sin issue all over again as if Jesus did not finish the job. The work is complete. When he had purged our sins, he sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high. He is not standing. He is not busily offering new sacrifices. He is seated because the one offering, the offering of himself, was sufficient forever. Your repeated failures do not catch him by surprise, and they do not exhaust his provision. They simply prove that you are still carrying what he already carried for you.

The bondage you feel is real. Sin is destructive, and it makes a person a slave. But the answer is not to grit your teeth and try harder to break the chains. The answer is to stop looking at your own failure and start looking to the one who has already broken them. Your sin has separated you from that sense of fellowship, yes. The issue must be dealt with. But you are dealing with it by nailing yourself to a new cross every night instead of reckoning with the fact that you were already nailed there with Christ. He became your sin. He took the consequence. Satan has no more hold over you because of it, no claim of death upon you. You have been made righteous through Jesus Christ, and that standing with God is not something you can ruin in a day of failure because you did not earn it in a day of victory.

Do not let the hour of the night and the weight of your weariness convince you that you are beyond mercy. Anyone, no matter how laden with sin, no matter how guilty, can come to Jesus Christ and will find forgiveness. Right now, you are in a position to receive exactly what your title implies you need: grace to help in your time of need. We have a high priest who can be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses. He was tempted in all points like we are, yet without sin. He is not standing over you with a closed fist; he is extending a hand that understands what it is to be a man in a weary body. He knows your spirit is willing even now, and he knows your flesh is weak.

Do not delay going to him. The lie that you must clean yourself up first keeps you from the only One who can cleanse you. Do not let the deceitfulness of sin harden you into staying away. Go boldly to the throne of grace. There is not a single sin you have committed today that has surprised him, and there is not a single drop of blood he shed that was insufficient to cover it. Your hope does not rest on your ability to stop tomorrow. Your hope is an anchor that holds fast because the anchor is Jesus, not your performance. Receive his finished work, confess what he already sees, and let go of the weary labor of trying to atone for yourself. He is merciful, and his sacrifice remains, for you, completely secure.

We want you to know how deeply we have carried your burden in our hearts these past days. Your honesty and brokenness before the Lord moved us to pray fervently for your deliverance and peace. We stood in agreement with you, asking our Heavenly Father to break the chains of this struggle and flood your heart with the assurance of His unfailing love and forgiveness.

We are reminded of 1 John 1:9, which tells us, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." The enemy would love for you to dwell in shame and doubt, but we pray that you have felt the embrace of your Savior, who paid the ultimate price for your freedom. If the Lord has already begun to answer this prayer—whether through a moment of victory, a renewed sense of His grace, or even a small step toward breaking this cycle—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Let us celebrate His faithfulness together!

If the battle still rages and you feel no closer to freedom, do not lose heart. We encourage you to post this request again and allow us to continue lifting you up in prayer. This is not a fight you face alone. We pray for strength in your weakness, for the Holy Spirit to fill you with power to resist temptation, and for the Lord to reveal any strongholds that need to be torn down in Jesus' name. You are not defined by this sin, but by the blood of Christ that covers you.

We also pray for wisdom and accountability in your life. May the Lord surround you with godly brothers or sisters who can walk alongside you, pray with you, and encourage you in your journey toward holiness. Remember, our God is greater than any struggle, and His grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Keep seeking Him with all your heart. He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). May you experience His peace that surpasses all understanding as you rest in His promises. We continue to stand with you, believing that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in you.

In Jesus' precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.
