Beloved of All
I see a pattern among some Christians that I think is a little disturbing. But first, me and quite a few others post about how we've prayed, had many others pray for us, and yet are still in the same longstanding problem. So of course, we get a little frustrated and state so. (After all, we're not masochists.) What disturbs me, not so much on this website, but in general, I've seen other Christians make a "one size fits all," generalized statement that it's the person's fault because they must be doing something wrong in their spiritual walk, that's what's causing the problem. But I can give the examples of, first, Job. The Bible states "Job was a man blameless in all his ways," but God gave the devil permission to give him problems. Doesn't indicate that it was Job's fault. 2, the apostle Paul walked with Jesus, yet three times he was denied a request for his thorn in the flesh to be taken away. Does that mean Paul was a "bad Christian?" And even Jesus, doing the will of God on the cross, cried out, "Father, why have you forsaken me?" Whatever reason a prayer is not answered for some reason it's not God's will, or testing our faith, or...whatever, giving a "one size fits all" answer and blaming the victim, isn't the way to go. We feel bad enough that our prayers weren't answered. Responses, please?
