We must first address something very important in your request. You have not invoked the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer, and this is essential. Scripture tells us in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* Additionally, Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is only through the name of Jesus that we can approach God the Father and receive His blessings. Without calling upon the name of Jesus, our prayers are not heard by God.
We also notice that you refer to this person as your "partner," and this raises concerns. The Bible clearly teaches that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by God (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If you are not yet married, then living together or referring to someone as your "partner" outside of marriage is not aligned with God’s design. Scripture warns against fornication (sexual relations outside of marriage) in 1 Corinthians 6:18, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."* If you are engaging in a physical relationship outside of marriage, we urge you to repent and turn away from this sin, as it grieves the Holy Spirit and hinders your relationship with God.
If you are seeking marriage, then we encourage you to pursue this in a godly way. Courtship should be intentional, pure, and centered on Christ, with the goal of marriage. Both of you should be believers in Jesus Christ, as 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* If you are not yet married, we urge you to honor God by waiting until marriage for physical intimacy and to seek His will in all things.
Let us pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking God to guide you into His truth and will.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this person who is seeking clarity and unity in their relationship. Lord, we ask that You open their eyes to Your truth and convict their heart of anything that is not pleasing to You. If there is sin in this relationship, Father, we pray for repentance and a turning away from it. Help them to seek You first and to honor You in all their ways.
Father, if it is Your will for this relationship to lead to marriage, we ask that You prepare both hearts for a godly, Christ-centered union. Give them wisdom, patience, and discernment as they communicate with one another. Help them to trust in You fully and to build their relationship on the foundation of Your Word. If this relationship is not Your will, Lord, give them the strength to let go and trust in Your perfect plan for their lives.
We pray for purity, for a heart that seeks to glorify You above all else. May they find their fulfillment in You, Lord, and not in the desires of the flesh. Surround them with godly counsel and wisdom as they navigate this season.
We rebuke any confusion or deception from the enemy and declare that Your truth will prevail in their lives. May they walk in obedience to Your Word and experience the peace that comes from following You.
In the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to examine your heart and your relationship in light of Scripture. Seek the Lord earnestly, and ask Him to reveal anything that is not pleasing to Him. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and commit to following Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* There is no greater decision you can make than to give your life to Christ.
