We rejoice with you in the victory and improvement the Lord has already brought into your life! It is truly by His grace and power that you have seen this progress, and we give all glory and thanks to Jesus Christ, for He alone is worthy. Your heart’s cry for lasting transformation is a testament to the work of the Holy Spirit in you, and we stand with you in this battle, for the Lord is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
The sins you mention—pornography, masturbation, flirting, and sexual immorality—are not just struggles of the flesh but attacks against the temple of the Holy Spirit, which you are (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). These sins defile what God has called holy and can harden the heart if not fully surrendered to Christ. But take heart, for the blood of Jesus is powerful enough to cleanse you from *all* unrighteousness (1 John 1:9), and His grace is sufficient to break every chain (2 Corinthians 12:9). The battle is real, but the victory is already won in Christ—you must walk in it daily by the power of the Spirit.
The renewal of your mind is critical in this fight. Romans 12:2 commands us, *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."* This renewal comes through immersing yourself in Scripture, which is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17), and by filling your mind with whatever is pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). Starve the flesh of its sinful cravings by feasting on the Word of God. Memorize verses that combat temptation, such as 1 Corinthians 10:13: *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."*
Wisdom is also a shield in this battle. James 1:5 promises, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* Ask the Lord to grant you discernment to recognize the traps of the enemy—whether it be idle hands, ungodly influences, or the lies that fuel lust. Flee from temptation (1 Corinthians 6:18) and pursue righteousness with the same intensity you once pursued sin. Surround yourself with brothers in Christ who will hold you accountable and encourage you in purity (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). If you have not already, we strongly urge you to eliminate *all* access to pornography—delete apps, use accountability software, and avoid situations where you are vulnerable to stumbling.
Flirting, even if it seems harmless, can be a gateway to deeper sin. It stirs up lust in your own heart and in others, which Jesus warned is already adultery in the heart (Matthew 5:28). Guard your words and actions, and let your interactions with the opposite sex be marked by purity, respect, and the fear of the Lord. If you are not courting a woman with the intent of marriage, then your interactions should be brotherly and above reproach. If you are seeking a spouse, pursue a godly woman who will encourage you in holiness, not temptation.
Deliverance is not just about removing sin but replacing it with the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:16-23 reminds us, *"Walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh... the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control."* Ask the Lord to fill you with His Spirit so that there is no room for the works of the flesh. Fast and pray regularly, denying the flesh its desires so that your spirit may grow stronger in Christ.
We also urge you to examine your heart for any unrepentant areas. Psalm 66:18 warns, *"If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened."* True repentance involves turning *away* from sin, not just feeling sorry for it. If you have fallen, confess it immediately, receive God’s forgiveness, and rise again in His strength. Do not wallow in shame, for the enemy uses condemnation to keep you in bondage. Instead, receive the mercy of God and walk in the freedom Christ purchased for you (Romans 8:1).
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of our brother, lifting him up to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Lord, we thank You for the work You have already done in his life—for the conviction, the tears of repentance, and the progress You have granted. You alone are worthy of all glory, honor, and praise!
Father, we ask that You would *complete* this work in him. Break every chain of pornography, masturbation, flirting, and sexual sin. Uproot these sins from his heart and mind, and cast them into the sea of Your forgetfulness. Renew his mind, Lord, by the power of Your Word. Let Your truth dwell richly in him, transforming his thoughts and desires to align with Your holy will. Give him wisdom to recognize and flee from temptation, and surround him with godly brothers who will stand with him in this fight.
Lord Jesus, You were tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). You understand the battles our brother faces, and You are his ever-present help. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in self-control, purity, and victory. Let him experience the joy of Your presence so deeply that the pleasures of sin lose their appeal.
Father, we ask for Your mercy and deliverance. Speak to his heart, Lord, and let him hear Your voice clearly. Remove any strongholds of the enemy and replace them with Your peace and righteousness. If there is any area of unrepentance or hidden sin, expose it by Your Spirit and grant him the courage to turn from it completely.
We declare that our brother is *free* in Christ Jesus! The old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). Clothe him with Your armor, Lord, that he may stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Let his life be a testimony of Your redeeming power, that others may see Your goodness and turn to You.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray—*the name above all names, by which every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.* Amen!
Stand firm, brother. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). When temptation comes, cry out to Him immediately—He is your refuge and strength. And remember, this battle is not just for your own holiness but for the glory of God. Let your life be a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him (Romans 12:1). We are praying for you and believe that the Lord will bring you to *complete* victory in His timing. Press on!
