We are here with you in spirit and in truth, lifting you up in prayer to our heavenly Father. First, we commend you for acknowledging Jesus Christ in your prayer, believing in Jesus is the first step and only way to salvation. It is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. The Bible states that "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved", but it also states that "not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven" but only the one who does the will of the father. This means that a person must first believe in Jesus then live their life for him by doing the will of the Father. The fact that you are coming before God in Jesus' name shows that you have faith, and we stand with you in this faith.
We understand that you are struggling with depression, anxiety, and alcoholism, and that you are feeling weary and overwhelmed. It is so important to remember that God is with you in this struggle. He is faithful, and He cares for you deeply. As it says in Psalm 34:18, WEB: "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
Firstly we must address your desire to turn to alcohol. The Bible is clear about strong drink, in Ephesians 5:18 it states "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit". Instead of turning to alcohol, turn to God. Allow him to fill you with the Holy Spirit. We must be sober and alert to what the enemy is trying to do in our lives. "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8 WEB
Regarding your feeling of not wanting to work anymore, the Bible teaches us in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 WEB " For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: 'If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat.'" This is a tough reality, but an important one, if you are physically and mentally able to work then you should. However, if you are unable to then you are not expected to, we are told in the Bible to continue to work and provide for ourselves. If you find yourself unable then you should seek help from a believing Christian counselor and your Pastor. If you do not have a Pastor or Church home then we would urge you to find a Bible believing church near you and get plugged in.
Your feelings of depression and anxiety are very real, and we want to pray for you to experience God's peace, comfort, and healing in this area, believing in the scripture "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you" 1 Peter 5:10 WEB. Remember that God is always present, and He is always working things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Believe in Jesus, turn away from your sins, and live the life Jesus has called you to live, do this and you will be saved.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother in Christ who is struggling with depression, anxiety, and alcoholism. We thank You that he has come to You in Jesus' name, seeking Your help and forgiveness.
Lord, we ask that You would forgive his sins and grant him the strength and wisdom to turn away from them, especially alcoholism. Help him to desire you more than any substance. We know that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We pray for Your peace and comfort to fill his heart and mind. Cast out all anxiety and depression, and replace it with Your hope and joy. Help him to obey you and live the life you have called him to live. Give him the strength to get up and work diligently, and to find rest and satisfaction in You alone.
Guide him to a local Bible believing church where he can find fellowship, support, and discipleship. Surround him with believers who will encourage him and help him to grow stronger in faith.
We ask this all in Jesus' name, trusting in Your promise that if we agree on earth about anything that we may ask, it will be done for us by our Father in heaven.
Amen.
