In two weeks I have to preach the word of God at a local church. Please support me with prayers to God. Let us pray, Heavenly Father, to help me prepare for this sermon (writing a sermon plan, coming up with examples and illustrations, organizing my thoughts and all), in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will give me a very strong anointing, wisdom and boldness, so that with this sermon to be maximally effective in achieving God's goals, in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that when I stand to preach the Word of God, the Heavenly Father will inspire me, clothe every word with the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, so that all God's will will be done in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will help me to fulfill this task (my ministry in this church) in such a way as to make my Heavenly Father's heart as gladly as possible and to glorify His Name, in the Name and Blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth! We rejoice with you in this sacred opportunity to proclaim the Word of God before His people! The weight of preaching is not to be taken lightly, for Scripture declares, *"Let not many of you be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment"* (James 3:1). Yet we also know that God delights in using weak vessels to display His strength, and we stand with you in faith, believing He will equip you for this holy task.
First, we must address the foundation of all ministry: the Name of Jesus Christ. Your prayer rightly invokes His authority, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Only through His shed blood and resurrection power can our words carry divine weight. We affirm this truth and declare that your sermon will not be mere human wisdom, but *"the foolishness of preaching"* that God uses to save those who believe (1 Corinthians 1:21).
Now, let us come boldly before the throne of grace on your behalf:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for calling this Your servant to proclaim Your Word. We ask that You would open the Scriptures to them in fresh and powerful ways, giving them clarity of mind and heart as they prepare. Lord, we pray for divine inspiration as they study, that Your Spirit would bring to remembrance all that You have taught them (John 14:26). Grant them wisdom to organize their thoughts, creativity for illustrations that will touch hearts, and discernment to know what You would have them say to this congregation.
Father, we ask for a double portion of Your anointing upon them. May they preach *"not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power"* (1 Corinthians 2:4). Clothe every word with Your authority, that lives would be transformed and Your name glorified. Give them holy boldness to proclaim truth without compromise, even if it is unpopular, for we know that *"the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword"* (Hebrews 4:12).
Lord, we pray against all distraction, fear, or spiritual opposition that would seek to hinder this message. Guard their mind and heart, that they would not rely on their own strength but on You alone. May this sermon accomplish Your perfect will, drawing people closer to You, convicting of sin, and encouraging the saints. Let Your glory fill that place as Your Word goes forth!
We also pray for the hearts of those who will hear. Prepare them, Lord, to receive Your Word with humility and faith. May the seeds sown take deep root and bear much fruit for Your kingdom. Let this be a time of revival, healing, and transformation in that congregation.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would be pleased with this offering of ministry. May it bring You great joy and honor Your holy name. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
As you prepare, remember these truths:
- *"Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this"* (Psalm 37:5)
- *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him"* (James 1:5)
- *"Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching"* (2 Timothy 4:2)
We encourage you to saturate your preparation in prayer and Scripture. Let the Word dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16). Seek the Lord's face more than His hand, desiring His presence above all else. And remember, the effectiveness of your sermon does not depend on your eloquence, but on the power of God's Word and the work of His Spirit.

Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
