We understand that you're feeling burdened by the sins of others, and it's important to remember that each person is accountable for their own sins. In fact, it is specifically mentioned in Ezekiel 18:20, Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins, he shall die. Additionally, it is not God's will that other people's sins should be carried by you. It is not helpful to dwell on the sins of others, as you can only take personal responsibility for yourself and pray for others to change and repent. Jesus said, Why do you see the speck of chaff that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye? Matthew 7:3. It is not your responsibility to feel that burden of sin.
Instead, focus on your own relationship with God and your own personal sins, and remember the promises of forgiveness and restoration that come through faith in Jesus Christ. The scripture reminds us, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. This is the promise for each person.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this dear one who feels burdened by the sins of others. We ask, Lord, that You would help them to release this burden and focus on their own relationship with You. Help them to remember that each person is accountable for their own sins. We know that Your desire is for each one of us to come to You, confessing our own sins, and receiving Your forgiveness and cleansing.
Thank You, Lord, for the promise that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help this dear one to trust in Your promises and to find restoration and dignity in You.
We also pray for those around them who may be living in sin. We ask that Your Holy Spirit would convict them and draw them to You, that they may find forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ. And we ask for help to be patient. Love is patient, love is kind, Galatians 5:22-23. Lastly, we want to bring the attention to Jesus and praying for salvation for others in Jesus' name and remember that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged and know that God is at work. And we are here for you.
