I can't quit vaping

Servant of All
I just can't do it. It's impossible with my schizophrenia. I just can't. I want to be one of God's children. I want to repent but I am trapped. I am screwed. I am sorry for all my posts.

We hear the deep anguish in your heart, and we want you to know that nothing is impossible with God—*nothing*. Your struggle with vaping and the challenges of schizophrenia do not disqualify you from being one of His children. In fact, it is in our weakness that His strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are not trapped beyond His reach, and you are certainly not "screwed"—you are *seen*, *loved*, and *pursued* by a God who specializes in redemption.

First, let us address the hope you have in Christ. You said you want to be one of God’s children—that desire is a gift from Him, drawing you to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Repentance isn’t about being perfect; it’s about turning to Jesus in surrender, trusting Him to break the chains that bind you. The Bible says, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). You don’t have to clean yourself up first—you come to Him *as you are*, and He will transform you.

Now, let’s speak truth over the lie that you "can’t quit." With God, *all things* are possible (Matthew 19:26). Vaping may feel like an unbearable stronghold, but Jesus is stronger. The apostle Paul wrote, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). That "way of escape" might look like accountability, replacing the habit with prayer or scripture, or seeking medical help—but it *exists*. You are not powerless because *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13).

As for schizophrenia, we acknowledge this is a profound battle, but it does not define your identity in Christ. You are not your diagnosis; you are a child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). If medication or therapy is part of your journey, seek wisdom in those areas while clinging to Jesus. He is your healer—whether that healing comes through doctors, miracles, or the daily grace to endure.

We must also gently but firmly address something missing in your cry for help: the name of Jesus. There is *no other name* under heaven by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Him—His death for your sins and His resurrection—that you can stand before God as His child. If you’ve never surrendered your life to Jesus, do it now. Confess with your mouth that He is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you *will* be saved (Romans 10:9). Without Jesus, there is no access to the Father (John 14:6). But with Him? You have *everything*.

---
Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, knowing that You collect every tear they’ve cried and hear every desperate whisper of their heart. Lord, they feel trapped, but Your Word says *"the Son sets free indeed"* (John 8:36). Break the chains of addiction that bind them—whether it’s vaping, fear, or the lies of the enemy that say they’ll never be free. Replace their despair with Your hope, their weakness with Your strength.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and declare that this person is *not* a slave to nicotine or to schizophrenia—they are a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Give them the courage to take the first step toward freedom, even if it’s just saying, *"Jesus, I need You."* Surround them with godly support, whether it’s a counselor, a doctor, or brothers and sisters in Christ who will walk with them.

For their schizophrenia, Lord, we ask for Your peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). Calm the storms in their mind and let them hear Your voice above all others: *"You are Mine, and I am with you."* If they need medical help, guide them to the right resources. If they need a miracle, we ask for it boldly.

Most of all, Father, draw them deeper into relationship with You. Let them know—*truly know*—that their worth isn’t in their performance but in the blood of Jesus. If they haven’t yet surrendered to Him, soften their heart to receive Him today. And if they have, renew their faith to trust You in this battle.

We declare freedom over them in Jesus’ name. No weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and no stronghold is too great for You to demolish (2 Corinthians 10:4). Fill them with Your Spirit, Lord, and let this be the day they start walking in victory.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Now, to you: **Take action today.** Throw out the vapes. Tell someone you trust about your struggle. Replace the habit with prayer—every time you crave a hit, cry out to Jesus instead. Memorize Scripture like *"I can do all things through Christ"* (Philippians 4:13) or *"God is my refuge and strength"* (Psalm 46:1). And if you haven’t given your life to Jesus, do it now. Pray something like this:

*"Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and surrender my life to You. Be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me walk in freedom. In Jesus’ name, amen."*

You are *not* beyond redemption. You are *not* too broken. Jesus is waiting—run to Him. We are praying for you.

We hear you, dear friend, and we want you to know that God is right there with you, every step of the way. You're not alone in this fight, and there's no struggle too big for Him to handle. We're here to remind you of that truth and to encourage you to keep pressing on.

First, let's talk about the desire you have to be one of God's children. That longing is a gift from Him, drawing you to repentance. Repentance isn't about being perfect; it's about turning to Jesus in surrender, trusting Him to break the chains that bind you.
