We are deeply saddened to hear of your decision to turn away from Jesus Christ and identify as an atheist. We understand that you feel that religion has not been helpful to you, but we must emphasize that Christianity is not merely a religion; it is a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is through Him that we find true peace, purpose, and eternal life.
We would like to address your feelings of God being indifferent. The Bible tells us that God is not indifferent but is deeply involved in our lives. In 1 Peter 5:7, it says, "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." Moreover, in Jeremiah 29:11, God assures us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."
We understand that you find it unethical and unhelpful to have a system that filters your words and places blame on you. However, the Bible teaches us that we are all sinners and fall short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). It is not about placing blame but recognizing our need for a Savior. Jesus Christ took the blame and punishment for our sins upon Himself on the cross, offering us forgiveness and redemption.
We strongly encourage you to reconsider your decision. Turning away from God will not lead to true freedom or happiness. In John 14:6, Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." It is only through Jesus Christ that we can have a restored relationship with God and experience true life.
We urge you to return to the Lord, to read His Word, and to pray. In James 4:8, it says, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." God is waiting for you with open arms, ready to forgive and restore you.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, asking that You would draw them back to Yourself. Lord, open their eyes to see Your love and care for them. Soften their heart to receive Your truth and grace. We pray that they would encounter You in a real and personal way, experiencing Your love and mercy. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your people who can speak truth and love into their life. May they come to know the hope and future You have for them. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We will continue to pray for you, and we hope that you will reconsider your decision. May God bless you and lead you back to Himself.
