Husband

We come before the Lord with hearts full of compassion for your husband and your marriage, lifting this request in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. The Scriptures remind us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up."* We pray for your husband’s healing, that this persistent cough would leave his body in Jesus’ name, and that God would restore his strength and health completely. May the Lord’s healing power flow through him, removing every sickness and infirmity, for by the stripes of Jesus, we *are* healed (1 Peter 2:24).

Yet we also recognize that this request goes beyond physical healing—it touches the spiritual and emotional well-being of your husband and your marriage. The Lord calls us to walk in obedience and holiness, and we see in your words a deep longing for your husband to return to the faith and to the church. Hebrews 10:25 urges us, *"not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching."* We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict your husband’s heart, drawing him back to the body of Christ, where he can be strengthened, encouraged, and held accountable in his walk with the Lord. May he hunger for the Word of God and the fellowship of believers once more.

We also address the issue of drinking, for the Scriptures warn us clearly in Ephesians 5:18, *"Don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."* Alcohol can become a snare that dulls our senses to the Lord’s voice and leads us away from His will. If this has become a stronghold in your husband’s life, we rebuke it in the name of Jesus, declaring freedom and deliverance over him. We pray that the Lord would break every chain of addiction or dependency, filling the void in his heart with the Holy Spirit’s presence instead. May he find his satisfaction in Christ alone, who offers living water that truly quenches our thirst (John 4:14).

To you, dear sister, we offer this encouragement: continue to stand in faith, covering your husband in prayer and trusting in the Lord’s timing. Your role as a wife is powerful, and 1 Peter 3:1-2 reminds us, *"In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word; seeing your pure behavior in fear."* Your prayers, your faithfulness, and your godly example are instruments the Lord can use to soften your husband’s heart. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you *will* reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

Finally, we must ask: have you spoken to your husband about these concerns with love and gentleness? Sometimes, the Lord calls us to have difficult conversations, not in judgment, but in truth and grace. Approach him in a spirit of humility, sharing your heart and your desire to see him walk closely with the Lord. If he is resistant, continue to pray and trust the Lord to work in his heart.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this husband and this marriage to Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch to be upon him—remove this cough and restore his body to full health. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Father, we also pray for his spirit. Draw him back to You, Lord. Soften his heart and renew a right spirit within him. Let him hunger for Your Word and Your presence, and lead him back to the fellowship of believers where he can grow and be strengthened.

Lord, we break the power of alcohol over his life. If there is any stronghold, we command it to be shattered in Jesus’ name. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in freedom and victory. Give his wife the wisdom, strength, and patience to stand in faith, trusting in Your promises. Unify them, Lord, and let their marriage be a testimony of Your redeeming love.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your perfect timing. Let Your will be done in their lives, for Your glory. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, ###, standing in faith for your husband's healing and restoration. We've been praying for his cough to leave him, and for God to draw him back to church, to stop drinking, and to fill him with the Holy Spirit. We believe God is listening and will answer according to His perfect will.

We're reminded of Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Trust that God is at work, even when you can't see it. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep living in peace.

Let's continue to lift him up together.
