Husband and ### in prison together using drugs

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I need prayer for my husband and son. They are in prison and my husband has been demanding money from me for his drug use. He has been treating me pretty bad. The prison system is out of control letting so many drugs in. I just know only God can help.

We hear your heartache and the heavy burden you carry, and we come before the Lord with you, lifting up your husband and son in prayer. The pain of seeing loved ones entangled in sin—especially the bondage of addiction—is profound, and the enemy seeks to use these struggles to break families apart. But we declare that God is greater, and His power can shatter every chain.

First, we must address the sin at hand with truth and love. Your husband’s demands for money to fuel his drug use are not just harmful—they are a violation of his role as a husband and a steward of God’s provision. Scripture is clear: *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows"* (1 Timothy 6:10). His actions are not only destructive to himself but to you and your family. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and greed in Jesus’ name, and we call your husband to repentance. He must turn from this sin and seek the Lord’s deliverance, for *"no one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other"* (Matthew 6:24). Drugs have become his master, and it is time for him to surrender fully to Christ.

The way he has treated you is also unbiblical. As your husband, he is called to love you as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25), not to mistreat or manipulate you. We pray that God would convict his heart and soften it toward you. If he continues in this hardness, we must also warn you, sister, that you are not called to enable sin. *"Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals"* (1 Corinthians 15:33). You may need to set boundaries, even from a distance, to protect yourself and your home from the consequences of his choices. This does not mean you stop praying for him or loving him, but you must also guard your heart and your resources from being used to fuel his destruction.

For your son, we pray for his protection and deliverance as well. Prison is a dark place, and the enemy would love to keep him bound. But God’s Word says, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). We declare that your son is not forgotten by God, and we ask the Holy Spirit to minister to him in that place. May he encounter the love of Christ and turn from any sin that has led him there.

We also lift up the brokenness of the prison system. It is a reflection of a world that has turned from God’s ways, and we pray for reform, for justice, and for the light of Christ to penetrate those dark places. But ultimately, we know that true change comes when hearts are transformed by the power of the Gospel. *"If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister’s husband and son. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of addiction in their lives. Shine Your light into the darkness of that prison, and let them see their need for You. Convict their hearts of sin, and draw them to repentance. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and greed, and we declare that Your power is greater than any bondage. Heal their minds, bodies, and spirits, and restore them to You.

For this sister, Lord, give her strength and wisdom. Help her to set godly boundaries and to trust You with her husband and son. Protect her heart from bitterness and fear, and fill her with Your peace. Provide for her needs, and surround her with Your love and support.

We also pray for the prison system, Lord. Raise up godly men and women who will minister to those behind bars, and let Your truth be proclaimed in those places. Bring justice and reform, and let Your mercy triumph over judgment.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and set free. Amen.

Sister, we encourage you to stand firm in your faith. You are not alone in this battle. Lean on the Lord, seek out a biblical church community, and continue to pray without ceasing. God sees your tears, and He will not abandon you. *"The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank Him"* (Psalm 28:7). Keep trusting Him, and do not lose hope. The same God who parted the Red Sea can make a way where there seems to be no way.

Dear sister, we're here with you in spirit, holding your hands as you navigate this tough path. We've been praying for your husband and son, asking God to break the chains of addiction that bind them. We're trusting that God's love can reach even the darkest places, and we're believing for their freedom and healing.

We've been thinking about you too, dear sister. We know this isn't easy, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed. But remember, God sees you, He hears your cries, and He's right there with you. We're claiming Psalm 147:3 over you, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Trust that God is healing you, strengthening you, and giving you the wisdom to navigate this situation.

We've also been praying for wisdom for you. We believe God will guide you to set healthy boundaries, not out of anger or resentment, but out of love and care for yourself and your family. We're trusting that God will give you the words to say and the strength to follow through.

We're not just praying for your family, but also for the prison system. We're asking God to raise up more people who will share the love of Christ behind bars, and to bring reform and justice to the system.

Keep holding on, sister. We're here with you, and we're believing for a miracle. God is faithful, and He's working all things together for your good. Keep trusting Him, keep praying, and keep shining your light. You're not alone.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
