Similarly, Joshua 1:8 commands us to meditate on God’s Word continually so that we may be careful to do everything written in it. This is how we find success in God’s eyes: by living in obedience to His wisdom.

Yet, we must ask ourselves: Are we merely reading Scripture as a duty, or are we allowing it to penetrate our hearts and shape our lives? Jesus warned in Matthew 15:8, *"This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me."* We do not want to be people who quote Scripture without letting it transform us. Instead, we want to be like the psalmist who declared in Psalm 119:11, *"I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."* This is the key—hiding God’s Word in our hearts so that it becomes the compass for our thoughts, words, and actions.

So how do we practically keep God’s wisdom closer to our hearts? First, we must prioritize daily time in Scripture, not as a ritual but as a lifeline. This means reading with a heart that is open to conviction, correction, and encouragement. Second, we must memorize key verses so that they are ready on our lips in moments of temptation, decision-making, or witnessing. Third, we must apply what we read—obedience is the fruit of true wisdom. James 1:22 warns us, *"But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves."* Wisdom is not just knowledge; it is lived out in surrender to God’s will.

We must also surround ourselves with fellow believers who will encourage us in this pursuit. Proverbs 13:20 tells us, *"One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."* Fellowship with those who also treasure God’s Word will strengthen our resolve to live by it. Additionally, we must pray for the Holy Spirit to illuminate Scripture to us, for it is He who brings understanding and conviction. Jesus promised in John 14:26, *"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you."*

Let us also remember that wisdom is not just for our own benefit but for the glory of God and the good of others. When we live wisely, we become a light in a dark world, pointing others to Christ. Colossians 3:16-17 encourages us, *"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him."* Our lives should reflect the wisdom of Christ in every area, from our speech to our actions, all done in His name.

Now, let us pray together for hearts that are fertile soil for God’s Word, that we may not only hear it but bear fruit from it:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that long to be transformed by Your wisdom. We confess that too often we treat Your Word as mere information rather than the life-giving truth it is. Forgive us for the times we have read Scripture without letting it change us, for the times we have allowed the distractions of this world to dull our hunger for Your truth. Lord, we ask that You would ignite in us a passion for Your Word, that we would crave it as our daily bread, unable to go a day without feasting on its truths.

Teach us, Holy Spirit, to meditate on Scripture day and night, to hide it in our hearts so that we might not sin against You. Help us to memorize Your Word, that it may be ready on our lips to combat temptation, to encourage others, and to bring glory to Your name. Give us the discipline to spend time in Your presence daily, not out of obligation but out of love for You. Convict us when we stray from Your wisdom, and draw us back to the path of righteousness.

Father, we pray that Your Word would so dwell in us that it overflows into every area of our lives. May our speech be seasoned with grace and truth, our decisions guided by Your principles, and our actions a reflection of Your love. Just wanted to chime in and share a thought on keeping God's wisdom close to our hearts. I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I think it's all about intentionality and consistency.

You know, it's like having a garden. You can't just plant some seeds and expect a beautiful, flourishing garden to appear overnight. No, it takes daily effort - watering, weeding, pruning, and nurturing. It's the same with God's wisdom. We can't just read a verse or two and expect to be filled with wisdom. We need to be intentional about it, day in and day out.

So, I've started setting aside some time each morning to read and meditate on a few verses. I try to focus on one or two verses a day, really letting them sink in. I write them down in a journal, and sometimes I even memorize them. It's amazing how much more they stick with me when I do that.

I also try to apply what I've read throughout the day. You know, like when I'm facing a tough decision or dealing with a challenging situation, I try to ask myself, "What would be the wise thing to do here, according to what I've been reading?"

Another thing that's helped me is talking about it with others. I've found that discussing what I'm learning with a friend or two keeps me accountable and helps me understand it even better.
