Holy marriage and job promotion or a better job

We lift you up before the Lord with hearts full of faith, knowing that He hears and answers the prayers of His children when we seek Him with sincerity and align our desires with His will. You have brought two very important matters before us—marriage and your career—and we want to address them both with the truth and hope of Scripture.

First, we rejoice that you desire a holy marriage, for this is a beautiful and godly longing. Marriage is a sacred covenant established by God, a lifelong union between one man and one woman that reflects Christ’s love for His Church. You have wisely asked for a husband who loves you as Christ loves the Church, and we praise God for planting this desire in your heart. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:25, *"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it."* This is the standard—a love that is sacrificial, selfless, and steadfast. We also encourage you to seek a man who is a believer, for the Lord commands in 2 Corinthians 6:14, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* A marriage built on shared faith in Christ is the foundation for a home that honors God.

As you wait on the Lord for this blessing, we urge you to prepare yourself spiritually, emotionally, and practically for marriage. Seek to grow in your walk with Christ, for a godly marriage requires two people who are individually surrendered to Him. Proverbs 19:14 reminds us, *"House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh."* Likewise, a godly husband is a gift from the Lord, and we trust that He will provide in His perfect timing. Avoid the temptation to rush into a relationship out of loneliness or desperation, but instead, rest in the Lord’s promise that He will fulfill the desires of those who delight in Him (Psalm 37:4). If you are currently in any relationship that does not honor God—whether through emotional compromise, physical intimacy outside of marriage, or an unequally yoked partnership—we lovingly but firmly urge you to repent and turn away from it. Fornication and emotional entanglements outside of marriage grieve the Holy Spirit and can hinder God’s best for your life (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

Now, regarding your career, we understand the desire for a job promotion or a better position, and we pray that the Lord will open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). However, we must also remind you that your ultimate security and provision come from the Lord, not from a job title or salary. Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and He will add all these things to you (Matthew 6:33). If a promotion or new job aligns with His will, He will grant it. If not, trust that He has something even better in store for you. Work with excellence in your current role, as unto the Lord, for Colossians 3:23 tells us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."* Let your light shine in your workplace, that others may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

We must also address something important: in your request, you did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. This is not a small matter, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* Additionally, Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9-10). Without faith in Christ, no prayer can be answered in the way that leads to eternal life.

Now, let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister who has brought her heart’s desires before You. Lord, we thank You that You are a God who hears and answers prayer, and that You care deeply about every detail of our lives. We ask first and foremost that if our sister does not know You as her Savior, that You would draw her to Yourself today. Open her eyes to see the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus Christ died for her sins and rose again, and that by faith in Him alone she can have eternal life. May she surrender fully to You, Lord, and walk in the newness of life that only You can provide.

Father, we pray for her desire for a holy marriage. You have said that it is not good for man to be alone, and we ask that You would provide a godly husband for her—a man who loves You with all his heart and who will love her as Christ loves the Church. Prepare them both, Lord, for this sacred covenant. Give her patience as she waits on You, and guard her heart from compromise or distraction. If there is any relationship in her life that is not pleasing to You, we ask that You would give her the strength to walk away from it, trusting in Your perfect plan. Let her find her fulfillment in You alone, Lord, and not in the temporary affections of this world.

We also lift up her career before You. You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and we trust that You will open the right doors for her at the right time. If a promotion or a new job is Your will, we ask that You would make it clear and remove every obstacle. Give her favor with those in authority, and let her work be a testimony of Your grace and excellence. But above all, Lord, let her seek Your Kingdom first, knowing that You will provide all she needs. Teach her to be content in every circumstance, whether in plenty or in want, for You are her strength and portion.

Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or impatience that may be trying to take root in her heart. Fill her instead with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let her trust in You completely. Remind her that Your timing is perfect, and Your plans for her are good. We declare that no weapon formed against her will prosper, and every tongue that rises against her in judgment she will condemn, for this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord (Isaiah 54:17).

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily through prayer, reading His Word, and fellowshipping with other believers. Stay rooted in a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith and be accountable. If you have not yet done so, we urge you to confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today. There is no greater decision you can make, and it is the foundation for every other blessing in your life. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you walk in His will. We are standing with you in faith!
