Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this burden for your brother in Christ and for his recovery from hip replacement surgery. It is encouraging to hear that he is already back to work as an assistant manager, and that is a reason to give thanks to God for His mercy and help so far. We join you in asking the Father for his complete healing and full restoration so that he can continue his work with strength.
We believe God still works today in power to touch and heal physical needs. We do not want to confine His work to a past age, for He is the same God who healed the nobleman's son when Jesus spoke the word from a distance. At the same time we do not look for sensational displays, we simply trust His promise and believe that He will work because He has said He will. It is not for us to figure out how He will do it, only to believe Him. Unbelief can keep us from partaking of what God has done, so we come with simple faith in Jesus, the One God sent.
We also remember that God is always working in us before He works through us. Often when He shapes us and removes rough edges it is painful and we do not understand why He allows a particular trial. Scripture tells us to count it all joy when we go through hard testings, and that all things work together for good for those who love Him. He never tests to destroy us but to show us how much we must rely on Him and to prepare us for the work He has for us. Your friend's surgery and recovery can be part of that shaping, teaching dependence and patience while God restores him.
Our confidence rests not in our own efforts but in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Salvation itself is by His grace, His work on the cross, and the faith He places in our hearts as He draws us to Himself. Jesus said the work of God is to believe on Him whom the Father has sent. When that work was finished, He rested, and we too can rest in what Christ has accomplished for us rather than in our own goodness. If we have received a work of God in our lives we also have a responsibility to open our lives fully to Him and to walk with Him.
So we will keep praying with you until the Father answers according to His perfect wisdom and love. We pray that pride or intellect would not stand in the way of what God wants to do, and that faith would be active and expectant. The Lord says if we return to Him He will return to us, and if we seek Him He will be found. We look forward to the day when the Son of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings, and we ask for a foretaste of that healing now.
Father, in the name of Jesus we thank You for the healing You have already given to this dear brother and for bringing him back to his job. We ask You to continue Your work in his body, to complete his healing, to restore his hip fully, to give him strength and endurance for each day as an assistant manager. Let Your work appear in his life and let Your beauty be upon him, and establish the work of his hands. Grant him and those praying for him a willing heart to trust You and to rest in Your finished work. Amen.
