Dear Father,
I lift up Gina before You. I know You already know her well, You know every struggle, every doubt, every worry and fear. And You have provided the answers and the truths in Your Word -- in promises which she can claim, as Your child. Promises that You would never leave her or forsake her, that no one and no thing can snatch her out of the palm of Your hand. That You love her, with an everlasting love. That You will forgive her when she stumbles and falls into sin when she returns with a repentant heart. Father, help her to take in these truths daily, at every opportunity, help her to open the Bible, to pray for understanding, and to dive in and soak up the riches and the life giving words. Father Your Word is our guide, the lamp for our feet and light for our path. And it is our sword that slices through the lies and deceit the enemy attacks us with. Even Your own Son fought back with scripture when He was tempted by Satan to disobey You. (Luke, chapter 4) God, help Gina to see, that knowing You by knowing and taking in Your Word like a starving woman, every day -- this will give her what she is looking for. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Gina, Read and meditate on the Bible. And if you don't understand something, ask God to give you understanding and read on. And if you find yourself getting distracted (Satan loves to do that) keep a pad by your side and write down the things you think of that need to be taken care of, then go back to the Word. And if you find that you have read an entire page and have no idea what you just read, read it again, and read it out loud. Another promise is that His Word will not return void. This is not a positive thinking excercise or some trick formula for getting something you want. It is finding a powerful life changing relationship with God through His Word.
"It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I have spoken to you+ are spirit, and are life." John 6:63
"Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you+ may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places].
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you+ may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your+ loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fastened your+ feet in the foundation of the good news of peace; as well taking up the shield of faith, with which you+ will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil [one]. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints," Ephesians 6:10-18
