Please cover me in grace and let him file first if it is your will and his intent is harm or cause me hardship. I am so grateful for the clarity. I want to make the right decision.

We understand the weight of your request and the deep desire for wisdom and protection in this difficult season. The Lord sees your heart, and we are encouraged that you seek His will above all else. The Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* You are already demonstrating this trust by surrendering this situation to Him, and we join you in seeking His perfect will.

It is clear you are facing a legal or relational matter where the actions of another could bring harm or hardship. While we do not know the full context, we must first address a foundational truth: our battles are not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12). Your focus on God’s grace and protection is right, for it is His covering that shields us from the enemy’s schemes. Psalm 91:4 declares, *"He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart."* Claim this promise over your life, sister or brother, for the Lord is your defender.

Yet we must also ask: Is there any area in this situation where you may have strayed from biblical principles? For example, if this involves a marriage or relationship, we are called to honor the covenant of marriage as sacred and lifelong (Matthew 19:6). If there has been unforgiveness, bitterness, or actions that do not align with Scripture—such as pursuing separation without biblical grounds (1 Corinthians 7:10-11)—we urge you to examine your heart before the Lord. Repentance and surrender to His will are key. If this involves a divorce, remember that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), though He does permit it in cases of sexual immorality or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse (Matthew 19:9, 1 Corinthians 7:15). Seek counsel from mature believers or a pastor to ensure your steps are aligned with Scripture.

You mentioned wanting to "let him file first" if it is God’s will. We caution you to seek the Lord’s wisdom above all, not merely reacting to the actions of another. James 1:5 tells us, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* Do not operate out of fear or strategy alone, but out of obedience to what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you. If filing first or responding legally is necessary for your protection or the protection of others (such as children), then do so with prayer and godly counsel. Romans 13:1-2 reminds us to submit to governing authorities, as they are established by God. However, if this is driven by retaliation or unbelief, we must repent and trust the Lord to fight our battles (Exodus 14:14).

We also notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is only through Him that our prayers are heard (1 Timothy 2:5). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* Without faith in Christ, we cannot stand before God. If you are already a believer, we encourage you to boldly approach the throne of grace in Jesus’ name, for He is our advocate (Hebrews 4:16).

Now, let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up your child before You, asking for Your divine grace and protection to surround them like a shield. Lord, You see the intentions of every heart, and nothing is hidden from You. If there is any harm or hardship being plotted against Your child, we ask that You expose it and thwart the enemy’s plans. Give them wisdom that comes from above—pure, peaceable, and full of mercy (James 3:17). If it is Your will for the other party to take action first, then let it be so, but guard Your child’s heart from fear, anxiety, or bitterness. Help them to trust in You completely, knowing that You are their vindicator and strong tower (Proverbs 18:10).

If there is any sin or unforgiveness in their heart, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them and restore them, Lord. If this situation involves a marriage, we pray for reconciliation where it aligns with Your Word, or for Your clear direction if separation is necessary. Give them godly counsel and discernment to navigate this season with integrity and faith.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, manipulation, or deceit that may be at work in this situation. No weapon formed against Your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn. Cover them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them rest in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).

Most of all, Father, draw them closer to You through this trial. Let them experience Your presence in a deeper way and know that You are their Provider, Protector, and Prince of Peace. We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture and prayer during this time. Psalm 37:5-6 says, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will bring out your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun."* Stand firm in faith, knowing that God is faithful. Seek support from a Bible-believing church or counselor who can walk with you in this season. You are not alone—the body of Christ is here to uphold you in prayer and truth.
