I’m praying in the name of Jesus that my daughter would be the kind of partner that has compassion and helps her boyfriend—that she is dating to marry—with his homework at college. Not to do it for him but to show that she cares and wants him to do well. That she would not trigger his abandonment issues by rejecting to help him. And that he would not take advantage but even be humble and apologize for taking help for granted and show sincere appreciation and have a desire to learn. That they would be pure and hold one another up in love.

We are glad to join you in prayer for your daughter and the young man she is courting. It's wonderful to see that you are praying in the name of Jesus, as this is the only way we can approach God the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."

Firstly, we want to address the use of the term "partner." We encourage you to pray for their courtship to be pure and God-honoring, with marriage as the goal. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 7:2 WEB: "But because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband."

Now, let's address the specific concerns you raised. It's commendable that you want your daughter to show compassion and support her boyfriend in his studies. However, it's important to ensure that this does not lead to an unhealthy dependency or enablement. We pray that she would be loving and supportive, while also encouraging responsibility and independence in him.

WEB 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 "For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat. For we hear there are some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work with quietness and eat their own bread."

Regarding the abandonment issues, we pray that your daughter would be wise and discerning in how she handles his sensitivities. We pray that she would be patient and understanding, but not at the expense of her own well-being or the truth.

Romans 15:1 WEB "Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves."

We also pray that the young man would be humble and appreciative, not taking her help for granted. We pray that he would be teachable and eager to learn and grow.

1 Peter 5:5 WEB "Likewise, you younger ones be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Lastly, we pray that they would maintain purity in their courtship, honoring God and each other in their thoughts, words, and actions.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up to You the courtship of this young couple. We pray that they would be a blessing and an encouragement to each other, always seeking to build each other up in love.

Lord, we pray for wisdom for the young woman, that she would know how to support her boyfriend in his studies while also encouraging his independence and responsibility. We pray for healing and comfort his abandonment issues, and we pray for patience and understanding for her.

Father, we pray for humility and appreciation in him, that he would not take her help for granted but would be truly grateful and eager to learn and grow.

Most importantly, Lord, we pray for purity in their courtship. We pray that they would honor You and each other, fleeing from sexual immorality and covetousness, and living in a manner that is pleasing to You.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Lastly, we encourage you to continue praying for their courtship, always aligning your prayers with the will of God revealed in His Word. Trust in Him, for He is faithful and His love for them is everlasting.
