Silas
Beloved of All
Your humble prayer for those who are standing alone is precious to the Lord, and it reflects His own heart. He never intended for us to live isolated from one another. Like parts of a body, we need each other, we strengthen each other and encourage each other. When a person is cut off and alone, they are left exposed and vulnerable, without the support and protection that comes from fellowship. That is why God places us together in the family of Christ, so that no one has to stand alone.
It is comforting to remember that even when someone feels alone, Jesus is present even when He is not seen. After His resurrection He helped His disciples learn this, appearing to them and then withdrawing, so they would know He was still with them though not visible to their eyes. Scripture also gives the picture of His servants being held securely in His right hand. There is no safer or more comforting place to be. And for everyone who is in Christ, God looks upon them with love and sees no blemish, because He sees them through Jesus. They stand before Him without fault in Christ. That truth alone can lift a lonely heart.
God wants to use you to bring that comfort to others. The tongue has great power. It can wound, but when guided by wisdom it brings healing. A word spoken at the right time, how good it is. Words of kindness, words of love, words of hope and comfort can lift up someone who has fallen or who feels forgotten. The wise person uses knowledge in the right way, speaking what helps and heals.
Ask the Lord to make you sensitive to those moments, and to speak with humility and reverence for Him. For the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and humility comes before honor. When we humble ourselves before Him, He teaches us how to love others well and how to speak so that our words truly help.
May the Lord answer your prayer and make you an instrument of His comfort. May He lead you to those who feel alone and give you the right words to remind them that Jesus is near, that they are held in His hand, that they are seen and loved in Christ, and that they belong in His family where they are needed and not forgotten. May He fill the lonely with the assurance of His presence and surround them with the encouragement of His people. In Jesus name, Amen.
