Help me to stop looking at porn

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this battle against the sin of lust and pornography. The struggle is real, and we know the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy your purity, your peace, and your relationship with God. But take heart, for Jesus has already overcome the world, and in Him, you are more than a conqueror. The Word of God tells us, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). You are not alone in this fight, and victory is possible through Christ who strengthens you.

First, we must rebuke the spirit of lust and addiction that has taken hold of your eyes and heart. Jesus warned us, *"But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart"* (Matthew 5:28 WEB). Pornography is not harmless entertainment—it is a snare that defiles the mind, distorts God’s design for intimacy, and enslaves the soul. We command that spirit to leave you in the name of Jesus Christ, for He has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19 WEB). You must also take practical steps to flee from temptation. The Bible says, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). This means installing accountability software, deleting social media apps if necessary, and filling your mind with things that are pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8 WEB).

We also encourage you to confess this struggle to a trusted, godly brother in Christ who can pray with you and hold you accountable. James 5:16 reminds us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (WEB). Shame thrives in secrecy, but the light of Christ exposes and breaks its power. You are not defined by this sin—you are defined by the blood of Jesus, which cleanses you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB). His grace is sufficient for you, and His power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9 WEB).

Let us now come before the throne of grace together, lifting you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the courage of this dear brother/sister to cry out for help and for their desire to walk in purity. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of addiction and lust that has bound them. Cleanse their mind, heart, and eyes with the precious blood of Jesus, and restore in them a spirit of self-control, discipline, and holiness. Father, we pray that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be empowered to resist temptation and flee from every appearance of evil. Surround them with godly accountability and encouragement, and let them know that they are not alone in this battle.

We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). Lord, renew their mind with Your Word, that they may think on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. Help them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB) and to guard their heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23 WEB). We ask that You would restore their joy, their peace, and their intimacy with You, for You are their strength and their deliverer.

We pray for a fresh infilling of Your Spirit, that they may walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for them. Help them to see themselves as You see them—holy, beloved, and redeemed. May they find their satisfaction in You alone, for You are the only One who can truly fulfill the deepest longings of their heart. We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6 WEB). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Remember, this is a journey, and setbacks may happen, but do not let them define you. Each day is a new opportunity to walk in the victory that Christ has already won for you. Keep pressing into God, saturating your mind with Scripture, and surrounding yourself with believers who will spur you on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24 WEB). You are not fighting for victory—you are fighting from victory. The Lord is your strength, your shield, and your deliverer. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2 WEB), and He will lead you into the freedom and purity He has called you to.
