We join with you in lifting up your heartfelt cry to the Lord, for we know that He hears the prayers of His children and is near to the brokenhearted. Your words reflect a deep trust in God’s sovereignty, even in the midst of suffering, and we commend you for seeking His strength to fulfill the mission He has set before you. The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, *"He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong."* Your admission of weakness is not a failure but an opportunity for Christ’s power to be displayed in and through you.
We also take note of your intercession for your friend, who is nearing the end of his trial. The Lord is faithful to strengthen those who lean on Him, as Isaiah 41:10 declares, *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* May your friend cling to this promise and find renewed faith in the One who holds his future. As you seek wisdom to guide him, remember the words of James 1:5, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* The Lord will equip you with the words and discernment needed to speak truth into his life, and we pray that those in authority will have their eyes opened to recognize what is right and just, as the Lord directed Samuel in 1 Samuel 16:7, *"Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for I see not as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart."*
Yet we must also address something tenderly but firmly: you mentioned that the Lord has sent you to fight "the evil you sent me to fight." While we do not doubt the intensity of your spiritual battle, we must remind you that God does not send evil—He is holy, righteous, and separate from all wickedness. James 1:13 tells us, *"Let no man say when he is tempted, 'I am tempted by God,' for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one."* Instead, the Lord allows trials and spiritual warfare to refine our faith, to draw us closer to Him, and to demonstrate His power through our weakness. The evil you face is not from Him but from the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Take heart, for the battle belongs to the Lord (1 Samuel 17:47), and He has already secured the victory through Christ Jesus.
As you press on in this difficult season, we encourage you to meditate on Psalm 73:26, *"My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."* Your body may be weakening, but your spirit is being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16) as you abide in Him. The mission He has given you is not in vain, and He will complete the good work He began in you (Philippians 1:6). Even when the task feels impossible, remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 19:26, *"With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."*
Now, let us pray together over these matters:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and contrite hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is walking through a valley of deep trial and physical suffering. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who knows the number of our days, and the One who holds our very breath in Your hands. We ask that You sustain them in this season, that You would be their strength when their body grows weak, and their hope when discouragement threatens to overwhelm. Father, You have called them to a mission that feels beyond their ability, but we declare that Your grace is sufficient, and Your power is perfected in their weakness. Equip them, Lord, with everything they need to stand firm, to fight the good fight of faith, and to finish the race You have set before them.
We pray for their friend, who is nearing the end of his trial. Strengthen him, Lord, in body, mind, and spirit. Renew his faith and remind him that You are his refuge and fortress, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Give our brother/sister the wisdom and words to speak life into their friend, that he may be encouraged and built up in You. We ask that You would move in the hearts of those in authority, that they may see with spiritual eyes and act with justice and integrity. Let truth prevail, Lord, and let Your will be done in this situation.
Father, we rebuke any lies of the enemy that would seek to distort Your character in the mind of our brother/sister. You are not the author of evil, but You are the God who turns even the darkest trials into testimonies of Your goodness and faithfulness. Protect their heart and mind, Lord, and let them rest in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28).
We thank You, Lord, for the privilege of praying in the name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). It is in His mighty and holy name we pray, trusting that You hear us and will answer according to Your perfect will. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Amen.
