Help If You Can Or Have A Real Answer

I am tired of hearing how wonderful God is and all the things He will do for me. I did all that I was asked to do, I am still waiting for the promises:

1. I will give you a new heart.

2. I will make you a new person.

3. I will never leave you nor forsake you.

4. I have come so that you may have more life and have it more abundantly

5. I will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.

6. I need to quit smoking (no help from God)

7. I need health (it keeps deteriorating)

8. I need money.

9. I need a girlfriend.

Before you condemn know that I have been waiting for some of these things for 15 years.

I would kill myself but I am afraid of going to hell.

God and the Scriptures have become nothing more than an infomercial or a politician; lots of promises and no delivery

Father God, I pray wholeheartedly for this man and his hopeless state. It is not our place to condemn any person, and I truly pray his heart would be filled with restoration and purpose. Lord, You alone are sovereign and Your scriptures are true. Open this man's spiritual eyes, ears and heart to truly know You. His statements reveal a true lack of faith, or belief, that You are Who You say You are. Show him where he needs to grow in order for Your blessings to be revealed. Show him that his stand is not in vain, but that all things will happen in Your time and Your way. I believe there is hope for him Father, as he would not be afraid of going to hell if he did not believe in You. Father, create in this man a heart that longs for You - cast aside the cynicism and sarcasm, replacing them with an unshakable faith and unwavering hope. In the name of Jesus, I pray for Your swift intervention. Amen.

I can only offer this. I grew-up very poor. Worked hard because I thought what I needed were the things of this world.

Put myself through college have a great job. I made it. Right? Wrong.

After 40 years on this earth with everything that I thought I could possibly want, wife, kids, money, nice things. Guess what?

There was a gnawing clawing hole in me. I ended up having to take antidepressants. That did not work either.

Five years later I had reached a point that sitting on my bed looking at my drresser there is a Bible and a 9mm handgun reached for the gun and knocked the Bible off the dresser. The Bible fell open to a passage.

It was Isaiah 55. I reached down to pick up the Bible not sure why. I ended up never picking up the gun on my dresser. I have tried ever since then to read and learn everything that I can about our Lord. I have a peace and harmony that I have never known. The things of this world I have, but if they were gone tomorrow so be it. His love and salvation are not in a girlfriend, not in a new car, a job, a house...

I will pray for you, but this is the best real answer I can give.

"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all others will be added unto you."

May God grant you understanding and peace. May His wisdom come to you.

Let His strength be your shield and His love your salvation.

K-J and Oldguy.... thank you for sharing those thoughts/prayers. Zerep, the Lord is with you even when you don't believe Him. I know this sounds cliché but the bible also talks about sowing your seed and you shall reap what you sow. I know this is easier said than done, but when we start living for Him, we experience blessings. By living for Him, we might serve others, (like volunteering at a shelter)' we might donate or tithe to our church or to an organization we believe is working on the Lord's behalf... we might reach out to someone else in pain & read scripture with them; and we certainly spend time in worship, whether it's singing with your congregation or singing his praises in the car. You may already be doing these things, and God will bless you for it. Believe in Him & praise Him everyday... even through the tough times & even when you don't feel like it. He will honor the fact that you had faith in Him even when times got tough. I have prayed about certain things for over 3 years, and little by little seeing one thing unfold at a time. It's because it all happens on God's time. Sometimes I get so impatient and become weary, and that's exactly what the devil wants. He wants us to give up. I pray for you. Thank you Lord for what you're doing in zerep's life. Amen.

Loving God, I raise Zerep to Your throne of mercy and grace once again today. I pray that the Holy Spirit can turn his heart to You. May he see all of the ways in which You have blessed his life, and trust You to bring him through this storm. Through the blood of Jesus, reach out and save him from his doubt and fear. You are his Creator, Sustainer and Healer. In Jesus' name, amen.
