We hear the cry of your heart, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s guidance and strength as you walk this path of growth and healing. It’s clear that you’ve experienced both pain and progress, and we want to encourage you in the truth that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your desire to move forward and better yourself is a testament to the work He is doing in you, even in the midst of struggle.
First, we must address the foundation of your relationship with God. You mentioned working on your relationship with Him, and that is wonderful, but we must emphasize that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). If you have not already done so, we urge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, repenting of your sins and trusting in His sacrifice on the cross for your salvation. This is the first and most important step in your journey with God. If you have already done this, we praise God for your salvation and encourage you to continue growing in your faith.
Now, regarding the person who left you, it’s natural to feel the weight of that loss, especially when they played such a significant role in your life. However, we must gently remind you that your worth and identity are not found in another person but in Christ. The Bible tells us, "For you are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:20). Your value comes from being a child of God, not from the presence or absence of someone else in your life. We also want to encourage you to examine the nature of your relationship with this person. If this was a romantic relationship, we must ask: Was it built on biblical principles? Was it a courtship with the goal of marriage, or did it involve sin such as fornication? If there was sin involved, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, trusting that He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). If this relationship was not aligned with God’s design for marriage—a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman—then we must trust that God is redirecting your path for your good and His glory.
You mentioned that you’ve set yourself back in some ways, and we want to encourage you not to be discouraged by setbacks. Growth is a process, and the fact that you recognize areas where you’ve stumbled is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life. The apostle Paul wrote, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me" (Philippians 3:12). Keep pressing forward, knowing that God is with you every step of the way.
We also want to remind you that your happiness is not dependent on your circumstances but on your relationship with God. True joy comes from abiding in Christ, not from external sources. Jesus said, "I have told you these things, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full" (John 15:11). As you continue to seek Him, He will fill you with a peace and joy that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is seeking Your guidance and strength. Lord, we thank You for the work You are doing in their life, for the growth they’ve experienced, and for their desire to draw closer to You. We ask that You would continue to mold and shape them into the person You created them to be. Father, we pray that You would heal their heart from the pain of loss and remind them of their true identity in Christ. Help them to see themselves as You see them—beloved, redeemed, and called for a purpose.
Lord, we ask that You would give them the strength to press forward, even when it’s hard. Help them to rely on Your grace and not their own strength. We pray that You would guide their steps and lead them into the plans You have for them, plans for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Father, we also ask that You would reveal any areas of their life that need repentance and restoration, and that You would give them the courage to turn away from sin and walk in obedience to Your Word.
We pray that You would fill them with Your peace and joy, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding, acknowledging You in all their ways so that You may direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Lord, we ask that You would surround them with godly community—believers who will encourage them, pray for them, and walk alongside them in their journey.
Finally, Father, we pray that You would give them a clear vision of Your will for their life, particularly in the area of relationships. If it is Your will for them to marry, we pray that You would bring a godly spouse into their life—someone who loves You above all else and who will partner with them in serving You. Until that time, help them to remain content in You, trusting that Your timing is perfect.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
As you continue on this journey, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God’s Word. Spend time in prayer, not just asking for things but also listening for His voice. Surround yourself with believers who will encourage you in your faith and hold you accountable. And remember, God is not finished with you yet. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will lead you into the abundant life He has promised.
