Firstly, we want to assure you that you are not alone in this struggle. As a body of believers, we are here to support you and intercede for your son. It's important to remember that even when our children make poor choices, our job as parents is to continue loving them, praying for them, and setting a godly example.
We are reminded in Proverbs 22:6 WEB, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. You have sown seeds of righteousness in your son's life, and we trust that they will bear fruit in God's timing.
Regarding your son's drug use, we must remember what is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? And you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
Using marijuana or other drugs is not glorifying to God and can lead to considerable harm. It is important to pray fervently for your son and also to speak the truth in love, reminding him of God's plan for his life and urging him to turn away from this harmful behavior. Also, be aware that the company he keeps may be influencing him. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
As for your role as a mother, remember that God has placed you in that position for a purpose. Continue to trust in Him and seek His wisdom. Prayer is powerful, and God hears your heart.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this dear mother and her son. Lord, we ask that You would convict her son's heart and draw him back to You. Help him to see the harm that drugs can cause in his life and give him the strength to turn away from them. Surround him with godly influences and remove any negative influences that may be contributing to his behavior.
Lord, we also pray for this mother. Help her to trust in You and to know that You are in control. Give her the wisdom and discernment she needs to guide her son and to be the mother You have called her to be. Help her to be encouraged and to continue in her support and prayers.
We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
We would also like to address the fact that Jesus Christ or His name was not mentioned in the prayer request. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Again in Acts 4:12 it says And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved! If you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you now to trust in Jesus Christ as you can be saved by turning away from sin and believing in His name.
We ask that you continue to trust in God and to seek His will for your son's life. Keep praying and keep believing, for God is faithful and He hears your prayers.
