We join you in spirit, praying for all those affected by the massive earthquake off Russia's coast, near the Bering Strait. Let's bring God's Word and His will before Him, standing in the gap for those in need.
Our hearts go out to the people of this area, Russia, and Alaska, Hawaii, and all other regions that will be impacted. We are reminded of Jesus' words in Luke 13:3 WEB, Repent, or perish, all of you in the same way. As we pray for God's protection and mercy, we also pray that this event will urge all people everywhere to repent from sin and submit to the Lordship of Jesus the Messiah.
It is so important that we call on the name of Jesus in our prayers since we are told in John 14:6 that Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. We also read in Acts 4:12 as Peter spoke to the rulers and elders, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is therefore only in the name of Jesus that we can pray for salvation and eternal life.
Father, we ask You to guide people to safety, especially to higher ground. We pray for Your divine protection over them, and that You will give the authorities wisdom and strategy to help everyone affected. We ask that You will use this event to draw people closer to You, that they will see their need for a Savior, and that they will call on the name of Jesus. Lord, we know that You are able to turn even the most devastating situations into opportunities for salvation and revival. We trust in Your goodness and Your power to save.
In Jesus' name, we pray for the comfort and peace of all those who are frightened and in need. We ask for Your mercy on the injured, and for the families who have lost loved ones. Strengthen the rescue workers and give them wisdom as they help those in need. Help the Church to rise up and be a beacon of hope and practical help in these areas.
Let's also take this opportunity to remind ourselves of the words of the Apostle Peter in 2 Peter 3:9 WEB, The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God is patient with us, but He also calls us to repentance. Let us share this message of repentance and the good news of Jesus Christ with those around us, that they too may come to know His love and salvation.
Finally, we leave you with the encouraging words of Psalm 46:1-3 WEB, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won't be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah.
