We stand with you in this difficult moment, lifting your heart to the Lord who sees all and knows the depths of your pain. Facing those who have harmed you is no small thing, and we recognize the courage it takes even to consider such a gathering. The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not alone, and He has not abandoned you in this.
First, we want to affirm that your desire for protection and peace is righteous. The Lord is a shield to those who take refuge in Him (Proverbs 30:5), and He commands His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways (Psalm 91:11). We join you in praying that if this gathering is not God’s will for you, He would indeed cancel it or make a way for you to avoid it without guilt or shame. If He calls you to walk through it, we pray He would encamp His angels around you as a hedge of protection, silencing every lying voice and every spirit of fear, intimidation, or control that seeks to rise against you.
The evil one would love to use this moment to stir up bitterness, fear, or unforgiveness in your heart, but we rebuke those spirits in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). You are not defined by what was done to you, but by who God says you are—a beloved child, redeemed and set free.
We also want to gently remind you that forgiveness is not about excusing their actions, but about releasing the burden of hatred and bitterness that only harms you. Jesus commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13), and while that may feel impossible in your own strength, the Holy Spirit empowers you to walk in obedience. This does not mean you must trust them or subject yourself to further harm, but it does mean you can entrust justice to the Lord, who judges righteously (1 Peter 2:23).
Father God, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is facing this trial. We ask that You would go before them, preparing the way and preparing their heart. If this gathering is not Your will, we pray You would shut the door completely. If it is Your will that they walk through it, we ask for a supernatural hedge of protection—angels surrounding them, Your peace flooding their heart, and Your strength sustaining them. Silence every lying voice and every spirit of fear, shame, or control. Let no weapon formed against them prosper. Fill them with Your love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Remind them of who they are in You—redeemed, forgiven, and deeply loved. Give them wisdom in how to respond, and if silence is the best response, grant them the grace to hold their peace. Heal their heart from every wound, and restore what the enemy has stolen. We declare that this moment will not break them, but will be used for Your glory and their good. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
You are not walking into that gathering alone. The Lord is with you, and so are we. If you feel led, spend time in worship or reading Psalm 91 before you go, declaring God’s promises over your life. You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37).
