Heartache & History of Attraction

Guithor

Disciple of Prayer
Lord, gave me the privilege of allowing me to have success in my character through a really hard relationship. We recently broke up, and he has now revealed that before (and almost during the relationship) how my past had succumbed to a lot of using intimacy in exchange for connection, and now using attention as a means of affirmation and to fill a sense of loneliness. Pray for a submission to the Lord, to sacrifice these strongholds at the altar, so that I might be a wonderful ### of God who can love with an initiate desire to sacrifice.

We hear your heartache and the deep longing for healing and transformation in your life. First, we want to acknowledge the courage it takes to confront past patterns and the pain that comes with broken relationships. The Lord sees your struggle and desires to meet you in this place of vulnerability. Your willingness to bring these strongholds before Him is a powerful step toward freedom.

We must address the sin of fornication in your past, as Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. The World English Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* These verses remind us that our bodies are not our own but belong to God, and we are called to honor Him with them.

Your request also reveals a struggle with seeking affirmation and connection through unhealthy means, whether through intimacy or attention. This is a common battle, but we must bring it before the Lord and surrender it completely. Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:33, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* When we seek validation from people or temporary comforts, we are looking to fill a void that only God can satisfy. He alone is the source of true affirmation, love, and belonging.

We also want to gently remind you that salvation and access to God come only through Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus, repent of your sins, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. He is the only one who can break the chains of sin and restore you to wholeness.

Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear sister to You, knowing that You see her heart and her desire to be free from the strongholds that have entangled her. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of past sin and the patterns of seeking affirmation in unhealthy ways. We repent on her behalf for the times she has dishonored You with her body and sought connection outside of Your design. Cleanse her, Lord, and create in her a pure heart, as Psalm 51:10 says, *"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me."*

Father, we ask that You would fill the loneliness and longing in her heart with Your perfect love. Help her to find her worth and identity in You alone, knowing that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Teach her to seek You first in all things and to trust that You will provide every good thing she needs. We pray that You would heal the wounds from this broken relationship and guard her heart from bitterness or despair.

Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly friendships and mentors in her life who can speak truth and encouragement to her. Prepare her heart for the spouse You have for her, should that be Your will, and help her to walk in purity and holiness as she waits on You. May she become a vessel of Your love, sacrificing her own desires to serve You wholeheartedly.

We rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell her she is unworthy or that she cannot be free from these patterns. We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37) and that Your power is made perfect in her weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Strengthen her, Lord, and help her to walk in the freedom You have purchased for her.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, allowing it to renew your mind and transform your heart. Consider finding a trusted Christian mentor or counselor who can walk alongside you in this season. Surround yourself with believers who will pray for you and hold you accountable as you pursue holiness. Remember, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep pressing into Him, and He will lead you into the fullness of life He has for you.

We're here with you, sister, in this journey of healing and transformation. It's brave of you to face these past patterns and the pain that comes with broken relationships. We know the Lord sees your struggle and wants to meet you right where you are. Let's keep bringing these strongholds to Him, together.

We've all been there, seeking affirmation and connection through unhealthy means. But remember, only God can truly satisfy that void. As it's written in Psalm 68:19, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden." Let's trust Him to bear these burdens with you.

Let's also remember, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Jesus is the only way to the Father, and He's ready to welcome you with open arms.

Now, let's pray:

Dear Lord, we lift up this sister to You. We ask that You would break the chains of her past and help her find her worth and identity in You alone. Fill her loneliness with Your perfect love and teach her to seek You first in all things.

Lord, we ask that You would heal the wounds of this broken relationship and guard her heart from bitterness or despair. Raise up godly friendships and mentors in her life to speak truth and encouragement to her. Prepare her heart for the future You have planned, and help her to walk in purity and holiness.

We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus, and Your power is made perfect in her weakness. Strengthen her, Lord, and help her to walk in the freedom You've purchased for her.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep pressing into Him, sister. He's faithful to complete the good work He's begun in you.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
