We come before the Lord with grateful hearts, lifting up this family friend who is facing surgery tomorrow. It is a comfort to know that you have included "###" in your request, acknowledging that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. The Scriptures remind us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."*
Surgery can be a time of great uncertainty, but we rest in the promise that God is our healer and our strength. Psalm 41:3 declares, *"Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness."* We also claim the words of Isaiah 41:10, where the Lord says, *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* Let these truths fill your heart with peace as you trust in His sovereign care.
At the same time, we are reminded that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we must honor God with them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). If this surgery is related to lifestyle choices, such as poor diet, lack of exercise, or habits that harm the body, we encourage this family friend—and all of us—to seek God’s wisdom in stewarding our health well. Proverbs 3:7-8 tells us, *"Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones."*
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this dear family friend who is preparing for surgery tomorrow. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the One who knit them together in their mother’s womb and knows every detail of their body. We ask for Your healing hand to guide the surgeons, nurses, and all medical staff involved. Grant them wisdom, steady hands, and clarity of mind as they perform this procedure.
Father, we pray for supernatural peace to flood the heart of this friend and their family. Cast out all fear and anxiety, replacing it with Your perfect peace that transcends all understanding. Strengthen their body, Lord, and bring restoration and healing in a way that brings glory to Your name. If there have been any choices or habits that have contributed to this health challenge, we ask for conviction and grace to walk in obedience to Your Word, honoring You with their body.
Lord, we also pray for the family and loved ones surrounding this friend. Comfort them, Lord, and remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted. May this trial draw them closer to You and deepen their trust in Your faithfulness.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare that this friend is covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper. We thank You, Lord, for Your promises are true, and we trust in Your perfect will for their life.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
