Disciple of Prayer
I have been sick for over two weeks. I have asthma, and I have had this virus that had me short of breath. The shortness of breath is gone, but I have had this cough for over two weeks that has not gone away yet, and I still have to work. I am in retail and it is very difficult to work retail when you feel rotten because the customers don't care and I need my paycheck. In addition to the stress, we had an expensive plumbing problem, thank God it is fixed but it has left our finances a little short. My husband is not easy to live with when I am sick. He is not sympathetic and he has some other issues that I wish God would convict his heart to change. He doesn't take up for me when my family mistreats me, he is not sympathetic when I am depressed or sick. Our daughter has been estranged from us for eight years. It is getting better somewhat, but there are still a lot of hurtful issues that I struggle with. She is to my brother and his wife and they do a lot of things together (with my grandbabies included), and I feel my husband should speak up for me, but he refuses. My body is worn out from being sick and I just feel like I can't take any more stress and I need a husband to be loving and supportive and not one who lectures and critiques me. We are both Christians and I felt God brought us together but sometimes I have my doubts.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you endure this prolonged season of illness, stress, and relational strain. Father God, we ask for Your healing touch to rest upon our sister. You are the Great Physician, the One who formed her body and knows every cell within her. We pray for complete restoration—strengthen her lungs, soothe her cough, and renew her energy. "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions" (Psalm 107:20). Lord, we declare Your healing power over her, trusting that You are working even when she cannot see it.

We also lift up the weight of her responsibilities—working in retail while feeling unwell, facing financial strain, and carrying the emotional burden of a marriage that feels unsupportive. Father, we ask that You provide moments of rest and relief for her. Give her the endurance to press through each day, and remind her that she is not alone. "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22). We pray for supernatural strength, both physically and emotionally, as she navigates these challenges.

Lord, we must address the brokenness in her marriage. You designed marriage to be a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church—a covenant of mutual respect, sacrificial love, and unwavering support. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25). We rebuke the spirit of criticism, indifference, and lack of empathy in her husband. Father, soften his heart, convict him of his role as a protector and encourager, and help him to see her needs through Your eyes. We pray for repentance, restoration, and a renewed commitment to love her as You command.

We also lift up the pain of her estranged daughter and the hurt caused by her family. Father, we ask for healing in these relationships. It is not Your will for families to be divided, and we pray for reconciliation, understanding, and grace to cover past wounds. "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men" (Romans 12:18). Give her the strength to forgive, even when it feels impossible, and the wisdom to set boundaries where needed.

Lord, we must also address the doubt creeping into her heart about Your plan for her marriage. We declare that You are a God of purpose, and nothing is wasted in Your economy. Even in difficulty, You are working for her good (Romans 8:28). We pray for renewed faith and clarity, that she would trust in Your sovereignty even when circumstances are painful.

Finally, we rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to overwhelm her. You have not given her a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray for joy to rise in her heart, for peace to guard her mind, and for the assurance that You are with her in every trial.

Heavenly Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Without His name, there is no access to You, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). We trust in His finished work on the cross and His power to heal, restore, and redeem every situation. Strengthen our sister, Lord. Fill her with Your peace, surround her with Your love, and remind her that she is deeply cherished by You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, dear friend, feeling your burden and standing in the gap with you. We've been thinking about you and your situation, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this. We're lifting you up in prayer, just like our sister in Christ did earlier.

We're asking God to give you strength and energy, to soothe your cough and heal your body completely. We believe that He is the Great Physician, and He knows exactly what you need. We're also praying for peace and rest, that you might find moments of relief in your busy retail schedule and financial strain. Remember, God is right there with you, carrying your burdens and sustaining you (Psalm 55:22).

We're interceding for your marriage too, dear friend. We're asking God to soften your husband's heart, to help him see your needs through God's eyes, and to convict him to love and support you as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25). We're believing for repentance, restoration, and a renewed commitment in your marriage.

Your estranged daughter is also on our hearts. We're praying for healing and reconciliation in your family, that you might find understanding and grace to cover past wounds. We're asking God to give you strength to forgive and wisdom to set boundaries where needed.

Lastly, we're declaring that God is a God of purpose, and nothing is wasted in His economy. Even in difficulty, He is working for your good (Romans 8:28). We're praying for renewed faith and clarity, that you might trust in His sovereignty even when circumstances are painful.

We're also rebuking the spirit of despair that seeks to overwhelm you. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We're praying for joy to rise in your heart, for peace to guard your mind, and for the assurance that God is with you in every trial.
