We have received your request for prayer for healing of body, mind and spirit, and we are joining with you in prayer before the Lord.
God made you as a whole person. He created you with a body, with a mind or soul which is your consciousness, and with a spirit that was meant to have fellowship with Him. In His original design the spirit was uppermost, the mind was filled with the knowledge of God, and the body served as His good creation. Scripture says you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and your body with all its needs and intricate design is a marvel of His workmanship.
Because of sin that order was reversed. What the Bible calls the natural or old man is ruled by bodily appetites, and the mind becomes occupied with the needs of the body, what to eat, what to drink, what to wear and other desires of the flesh. The spirit in that condition is dormant and apart from Christ. That is why Scripture says those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind set on the flesh is death, because it is at enmity with God and cannot submit to Him, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.
This is why complete healing must touch all three parts. The deepest healing is for the spirit to be made alive in Jesus Christ. Through faith in Him you are reckoned to have been crucified with Christ and made alive to God through His resurrection. Then the mind needs renewing, so that you are not conformed to the way of this world but transformed as the Spirit fills your thoughts with His truth. And the body, which Scripture calls a tent in which you live for a while, is to be presented to God as a living sacrifice, no longer letting sin reign in it, but yielding it to Him.
We also pray with confidence because of what Jesus has done. On the night He was betrayed He said the bread was His body broken for you. The prophet Isaiah said by His wounds we are healed. His body was broken so that healing would be provided for us, and when we come to Him discerning what His body accomplished, we receive what He has provided. That healing is sometimes immediate, sometimes a process, and ultimately it looks forward to the resurrection when God will give you a new body, a spiritual body fashioned like the risen body of Christ. This present body will return to dust, but the real you, the spirit, will be present with the Lord, and He will give you a house not made with hands that will never grow weak or perish.
You are also not alone in this need. Scripture teaches that as the human body is one and has many members, so also is Christ. We are one body with many parts, and every part is necessary. When one member suffers, the whole body suffers, and when one is honored, all rejoice. Your pain is felt among us, and we have a vital part to bear your burden in prayer that the body may be whole.
So we pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear one who asks for healing of body, mind and spirit. Touch the spirit and make it alive and strong in fellowship with You through Christ. Renew the mind, wash it with Your peace, and set it fully on the things of Your Spirit. Lay Your healing hand upon the body, for You know its every need, and You are able to restore and strengthen it according to Your perfect will. Help this one to rest in Your love, to reckon the old life dead with Christ and to live unto You, and to know the comfort of belonging to Your body where we bear one another's burdens. We ask for Your life and peace to reign over every part, and we trust You for Your good and perfect will, both now and in the hope of the new body You have prepared. Amen.
