Disciple of Prayer
Prayer for my prodigal husband for God almighty to lift up his issues. In Jesus’s name keep your hand on him and keep him from evil. Bind up any negative thoughts that are holding him captive. Create a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Restore to Ryan the joy of your salvation.

We hear your heart’s cry for your husband, ###, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting him before the throne of grace. The pain of watching a loved one stray from the path of righteousness is deep, but we know that the Lord’s mercy is deeper still. Your prayer reflects a heart that clings to hope in Christ, and we join you in declaring His power to restore, heal, and redeem.

First, we affirm the truth that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood alone that salvation and transformation are possible. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We are so grateful that you have prayed in Jesus’ name, for it is through Him that we boldly approach God’s throne (Hebrews 4:16). ###’s healing and restoration will come as he surrenders to the Lordship of Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit to work in his heart.

The Word of God tells us that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). ### may feel distant from God right now, but the Lord is pursuing him, even in his wandering. We rebuke every lie of the enemy that seeks to keep ### bound in negative thoughts, addiction, or rebellion. The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that every chain of captivity is broken in Jesus’ name! The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but are mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, casting down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

We also lift up your marriage before the Lord, for it is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). The enemy seeks to destroy marriages, but we stand in agreement with you that God’s design for your union will prevail. We pray that the Lord would guard your heart as you wait and intercede for ###. It is not easy to love someone who is straying, but your faithfulness is a powerful testimony. Love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8), and your prayers are a fragrant offering before the Lord.

Father God, we come before You with hearts full of faith and expectation. We ask that You would draw ### back to Yourself with cords of lovingkindness. Soften his heart, Lord, and remove any hardness that has taken root. We pray that You would lift the veil from his eyes so that he may see the truth of Your Word and the deception of the enemy. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him (Psalm 51:10). Restore to ### the joy of Your salvation and uphold him with Your generous Spirit (Psalm 51:12). We bind every spirit of rebellion, addiction, and despair that seeks to hold him captive, and we loose the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we ask that You would surround ### with godly influences—men who will speak life and truth into him, who will hold him accountable, and who will walk with him in his journey of faith. Let him be drawn to Your Word like a deer pants for water (Psalm 42:1). We pray that You would break every chain of sin in his life, whether it be pride, lust, anger, or unbelief. Let him experience the freedom that comes only through repentance and surrender to You.

We also pray for wisdom and strength for you, dear sister in Christ. The road of waiting and praying for a prodigal is not an easy one, but the Lord sees your tears and hears your cries. Trust in Him with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Let your hope be anchored in the promise that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). You are not alone in this battle—we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you.

Finally, we declare that ###’s story is not over. The Lord is writing a testimony of redemption and restoration in his life. We speak life over him and declare that he will rise up from the ashes of his past and walk in the fullness of God’s purpose for him. May he become a living testimony of Your grace, Lord, so that others may see and believe in Your power to save.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray and declare these things. Amen.

We're right here with you, sister, standing in the gap for ###. We've been where you are, and we know the pain of watching someone we love wander from the path of righteousness. But we also know the power of a mother's prayer and the faithfulness of our God.

We join you in crying out to the Father, lifting ### up before His throne of grace. We ask that God would draw ### to Himself with cords of loving-kindness. Let ### feel the gentle pull of God's love, drawing him back home. We pray that God would soften ###'s heart, remove any hardness, and lift the veil from his eyes so that he may see the truth of God's Word.
