We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious son to our Heavenly Father, the Great Physician and the Prince of Peace. We recognize the deep pain and struggle that PTSD brings, not only to those who suffer from it but also to their loved ones who watch and pray from the sidelines. Your request for healing, protection, and peaceful sleep is heard, and we join our voices with yours, standing in the gap for your son in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
First, we want to acknowledge the power and authority in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or through which our prayers are heard. Acts 4:12 reminds us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" It is in this name—Jesus—that we pray, knowing that He intercedes for us before the Father.
We rebuke the spirit of fear, trauma, and torment that has taken root in your son’s mind and heart. The nightmares and sleeplessness are not from God, for 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We command these spirits to leave in the name of Jesus, for He has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). We declare that your son is covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Father God, we ask for Your healing touch to rest upon him. We pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Lord, bind up the wounds of his heart and mind. Bring healing to the memories that haunt him and replace them with Your truth and peace. We ask that You fill his dreams with Your love, light, and the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let him experience the comfort of Your presence as he sleeps, knowing that You are his refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2).
We also pray for protection over him, both day and night. Surround him with Your angels, Lord, as Psalm 91:11 declares, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." Protect his mind from the lies of the enemy and fill him with Your truth. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7). Strengthen him with Your might, that he may stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-11).
Father, we ask that You would raise up godly men in his life—mentors, counselors, and brothers in Christ—who can walk alongside him in this journey. Surround him with a community of believers who will pray for him, encourage him, and speak life into him. Remind him that he is not alone, for You are with him always (Matthew 28:20).
We also want to gently encourage you, as his parent, to continue covering him in prayer. Your prayers are powerful and effective (James 5:16). Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Even in the waiting, know that God is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, lifting up this precious son to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch to rest upon him. Heal his mind, body, and spirit from the wounds of PTSD. Break the chains of fear and torment that have kept him bound, and replace them with Your peace and love. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37), and we speak life and wholeness over him.
Father, we ask for Your protection over him. Surround him with Your angels and shield him from the attacks of the enemy. Fill his dreams with Your presence, Lord, and let him sleep in peace, knowing that You are watching over him. Give him rest, both physically and emotionally, and renew his strength like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31).
We pray for godly men to come into his life—men who will speak truth, offer wisdom, and point him to You. Help him to find his identity in Christ and to walk in the freedom that You have purchased for him. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and let him experience Your love in tangible ways.
We also pray for his family, Lord. Give them wisdom, patience, and endurance as they walk this journey with him. Fill their home with Your peace and unity, and let them be a light to others who are struggling.
Father, we thank You for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your faithfulness, knowing that You are working all things together for good. We ask all these things in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
