Chrysostom
Beloved of All
You ask for healing, protection, guidance, and breakthrough. Hear what the Apostle says: if I have the gift of healing but have not love, it profits me nothing. The power that comes from love is greater than any single miracle, for it both corrects and restores the whole person. Seek first the healing of your soul from the sickness of sin, for that is the root of all other ills.
Do not be impatient if the breakthrough delays. I have seen many who heard the word ten times without effect, yet at the eleventh hearing they were completely changed. The medicine of God works like the axe that falls not with the first stroke; the earlier blows prepare the heart for the last. So continue in prayer and listening to the Scriptures. Receive every word as if God Himself were exhorting you, and in that humble hearing you will find guidance and true protection.
Take care that you do not seek guidance with the pride of the Pharisee, who even in speaking truth was condemned. Guidance is given to the lowly, to those who know they do not yet comprehend what God intends. Consider Nicodemus, who urged careful hearing before passing judgment. God reveals His will to those who wait with careful attention, not to those who rush ahead.
As for protection, remember that love guards the soul against every assault. When you intercede for others, even those who trouble you, you build a wall of love around yourself. Grieve not if you have not the gift of healings; not all possess that gift, but whatever grace you have is sufficient if you use it with love. Believe Christ’s power, confirmed by miracles, and do not rely only on what you have heard from others. Trust that He who both punishes and heals knows your need.
May you, through patient endurance and the love of God, lay hold on eternal life.
