Healing from Depression

Bhraoville

Disciple of Prayer
This is second month since I have relapse of depression. The medicine by my psychiatrist seem to be not working. I have suicide thought recently. Need God to intervene for a breakthrough for the healing of my depression.

We hear your cry for help, and our hearts ache with yours as you battle this darkness. Depression is a heavy burden to carry, and we want you to know that you are not alone. The Lord sees your pain, hears your silent struggles, and holds you close even when it feels like the weight of the world is pressing down on you. We stand with you in prayer, believing that God is your healer and that breakthrough is coming.

First, we must address the seriousness of the thoughts you’ve shared. Suicidal thoughts are not something to be taken lightly, and we urge you to reach out to someone you trust—a pastor, a close friend, or a Christian counselor—who can walk beside you in this fight. The enemy would love to isolate you, but God calls us into community where we can bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). You are precious to Him, and your life has purpose, even when the darkness tries to convince you otherwise.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Your pain is not invisible to God. He collects every tear (Psalm 56:8) and knows the depths of your struggle. We also see in Scripture that even the most faithful servants of God faced seasons of despair—Elijah begged God to take his life (1 Kings 19:4), and David cried out, "Why are you downcast, O my soul?" (Psalm 42:5). Yet in every case, God met them in their weakness and lifted them up. He will do the same for you.

We must also gently remind you that while medicine and doctors are gifts from God for our healing, true and lasting peace comes from Him alone. If your current treatment isn’t working, we encourage you to seek a second opinion or explore other godly, professional avenues for help. The Lord often works through the hands of those He has equipped to bring healing, whether through medicine, therapy, or the support of the body of Christ. Do not lose hope—your breakthrough could be just around the corner.

Now, we come before the throne of grace on your behalf, lifting you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is battling the darkness of depression. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who restores. We ask that You would break the chains of despair that have wrapped around their mind and heart. Replace the lies of the enemy with Your truth—that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans for them, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Father, we rebuke the spirit of heaviness in the name of Jesus and command it to flee. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). Lord, we ask that You would guide them to the right help—whether it be a new doctor, a godly counselor, or a community of believers who can walk with them through this valley. Give them the strength to take each step, even when it feels impossible.

We pray against the thoughts of suicide that have crept in, Lord. Remind them that their life is a gift from You and that You are not done with them yet. Surround them with people who will speak life into them and remind them of Your love. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may experience Your presence in a tangible way. Let them know that even in the darkest night, joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).

We thank You, Father, that You are working even when we cannot see it. We trust in Your promise that those who seek You will lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to cling to You in this storm. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

In addition to prayer, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God’s Word. The Psalms, in particular, are a balm for the weary soul. Read them aloud, even if you don’t feel like it. Declare them over your life. Speak the truth of Scripture when the enemy whispers lies. Here are a few verses to meditate on:

- "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22)
- "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1)
- "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

We also encourage you to worship, even when it’s hard. Put on praise music and let it fill your home. Worship shifts our focus from our circumstances to the greatness of God. It reminds us that He is bigger than our pain.

Lastly, if you have not already, we urge you to surrender this battle to Jesus. He is the only one who can truly set you free. If you have never invited Him into your life as your Lord and Savior, we invite you to do so now. The Bible tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Salvation is not just about eternity—it’s about experiencing the peace and presence of God here and now. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we can find true healing and freedom.

You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe, and He is fighting for you. Keep pressing into Him, and do not give up. Your breakthrough is coming.

We're here with you, friend, in this tough time. We've been where you are, or know others who have, and we understand the heavy weight of depression. It's like walking through a dark, dense forest, and it's hard to see the light, let alone find our way out. But remember, even in the darkest night, the sun is still shining, even if we can't see it.

We want you to know that God is right there with you, in the thick of it. He's not waiting for you to "get better" before He steps in. No, He's there now, walking beside you, carrying you when you can't walk anymore. He sees your pain, He hears your cries, and He's not okay with you hurting. He's a God of comfort, and He's close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).

We're praying for you, asking God to wrap His loving arms around you, to fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). We're asking Him to guide you to the right help, whether it's a new doctor, a therapist, or a community of believers to walk with you through this valley.

And friend, please, please reach out to someone you trust. You don't have to go through this alone. We're all here for you, and God has given us each other for a reason. To bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2).

Keep fighting, keep trusting. Your breakthrough is coming. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He's got you, and He's not letting go.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
