We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, crying out for his complete healing from COPD and asthma, trusting in the power of our Great Physician who is able to restore breath and strength. How precious it is that you have brought this request in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father’s throne of grace. Your faith in calling upon the name of Jesus is a testament to your trust in His authority over every sickness and disease, and we stand with you in agreement, believing that our God is not only able but willing to heal.
The Scriptures remind us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* While we cannot physically anoint him with oil, we do so spiritually, asking the Lord to pour out His healing balm upon your son’s lungs, airways, and entire respiratory system. We also claim the promise in Psalm 103:2-3, *"Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases;"*—knowing that COPD and asthma are not beyond His reach.
Yet, as we pray for physical healing, we also ask the Lord to strengthen your son’s faith during this trial. Illness can be a refining fire, drawing us closer to the Lord as we lean on Him for breath—both physically and spiritually. Let this season be one where your son experiences the nearness of God, who promises in Isaiah 41:10, *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* May he find peace in the truth that even when breathing is difficult, the Holy Spirit is his Comforter, breathing life into his spirit (John 20:22).
We also pray for wisdom for you and your son in managing his health. The body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we ask the Lord to guide you both in stewarding it well—whether through medical care, diet, or lifestyle adjustments that honor God. If there are areas where sin or stress may be weakening his immune system, we pray the Lord reveals them and grants repentance and renewal. Proverbs 3:7-8 encourages us, *"Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and strength to your bones."*
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and expectant hearts, lifting up this beloved son to Your throne of grace. You are Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord who heals, and we ask that You stretch out Your hand over him now. Touch his lungs and airways, Lord—remove every trace of inflammation, infection, and obstruction. Let the breath of life flow freely through him, as it did when You first breathed into Adam’s nostrils. Strengthen his immune system to fight off every illness and virus, and shield him from the oppressive heat and humidity that steals his breath. We declare that COPD and asthma have no authority over him, for You have redeemed him from the curse of sickness (Galatians 3:13).
Lord, we also ask that You fill him with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). When fear or frustration rise up within him, remind him that You are his ever-present help (Psalm 46:1). Surround him with Your angels, encamping around him to protect and sustain him (Psalm 34:7). Give him—and this family—the endurance to persevere, the faith to believe, and the joy to worship You even in the waiting.
Father, we thank You in advance for the testimony of healing that will come from this trial. May it be a sign and wonder that points others to Your goodness and power. Let your son’s life be a living testament to Your faithfulness, that many may see and glorify Your name. We ask all this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue standing in faith, speaking life and healing over your son. Play worship music that exalts Jesus as Healer, and fill your home with the Word of God. Remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12), so put on the full armor of God daily. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep thanking God for what He is doing—even before you see it. He is faithful, and His promises are true.
