We are truly sorry to hear about the trauma you've experienced and the eating disorder you're battling. We commend you for taking steps towards recovery and seeking help from a church counselor and Christian therapy. You mention you need to change some habits in your everyday life such as cooking and resting. You also mention a friend suggested that medicine would maybe help. We will pray for God's wisdom and healing in your life.
It is very important to run every decision by God in prayer. The Bible tells us, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. First, pray about any medical decisions. God may be directing you to some for a time or He may have a better way. Consider speaking to godly men and women as well. It is a good idea to have a support system.
While the Bible does not specifically discuss eating disorders, it does talk about the importance of taking care of our bodies and minds. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB)
The Bible also talks about healing for the brokenhearted: He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3 WEB)
Healing is a journey, and it's encouraging that you're taking steps to change habits in your everyday life. Remember, God is with you every step of the way. Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God, he is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6 WEB) Additionally, But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 WEB)
Your friend suggesting medicine may help is good advice, but remember that God's wisdom is the most important medicine. There are times when medicine can be part of God's answer, but only He can heal and restore.
You did not mention Jesus Christ in your prayer. While we can pray for you, it is only in Jesus Christ that we have salvation and access to God. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all. This was the testimony at the right time. (1 Timothy 2:5-6 WEB) And in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved! (Acts 4:12 WEB) We encourage you to learn more about the love of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice that gave us salvation and how we can be born again.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up your beloved child. We pray for complete healing and restoration in their life. Guide them as they seek help from a church counselor and Christian therapy. Give them wisdom in changing habits in their everyday life, and provide clarity on whether medicine is the right path for them.
We pray against any spirits of trauma, eating disorders, and ungodly influences. We bind them in the name of Jesus and cast them out. We speak healing and restoration over their body, mind, and spirit.
Father, we ask that you give them strength and grace to trust you fully. We pray that they will find comfort in you, and that you will heal their broken heart.
We also pray that they will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We pray that they will find hope, peace, and joy in a personal relationship with Him.
We Ask this all in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
We encourage you to keep taking steps towards recovery. The Bible tells us it is not the will of God that any should perish. So stay on the path.
