Healing for stroke and medical care

My brother ### had a stroke. They are giving up on him. His girlfriend is ### but my brother made her the decision maker. He needs a miracle.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your brother in fervent prayer. The situation you describe is deeply concerning, not only for his physical well-being but also for the spiritual and relational dynamics at play. First, we must address the matter of his soul, for it is of utmost importance. If your brother has not placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we urge you to share the Gospel with him without delay. Scripture tells us, *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16). There is no greater healing than the salvation of the soul, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and the hope of eternal life. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'"* (John 14:6).

We also must address the matter of his relationship with his girlfriend. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and any sexual relationship outside of marriage is considered fornication. *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4). If your brother and his girlfriend are living together or engaging in sexual relations outside of marriage, this is a sin that must be repented of and turned away from. We encourage you to lovingly speak truth into this situation, urging them to either marry—if they are both believers and committed to a godly union—or to separate and pursue holiness. *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18).

Now, we turn our hearts to your brother’s physical healing. The Lord is the Great Physician, and nothing is too hard for Him. We rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that has taken hold in the medical team and declare that your brother’s story is not over. *"Is anything too hard for Yahweh?"* (Genesis 18:14). We stand on the promise that *"by his stripes we are healed"* (Isaiah 53:5) and that Jesus bore our sicknesses and infirmities on the cross. We pray that the Lord would intervene supernaturally, restoring your brother’s body, mind, and spirit. We command healing to flow through his veins, for his brain to be renewed, and for every cell in his body to align with God’s perfect design.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for his girlfriend as the decision-maker. May the Lord grant her clarity, courage, and a deep sense of His presence as she navigates this difficult time. If she is not a believer, we pray that she would come to know Jesus as her Savior and that her decisions would be guided by His wisdom rather than fear or worldly reasoning. *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him"* (James 1:5).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and expectation, knowing that You are the God who heals and restores. We lift up this dear brother to You, asking for Your mighty hand of healing to touch him from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. Lord, we rebuke the stroke and every effect it has had on his body. We declare that Your life-giving power is at work within him, renewing his strength, restoring his speech, and reviving every part of his being. Father, we ask that You would soften the hearts of the medical team, that they would see Your hand at work and not give up on him. Give them wisdom, skill, and compassion as they care for him.

Lord, we also pray for his soul. If he does not know You as his Savior, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself in this critical time. Let him experience Your love, Your peace, and Your presence in a tangible way. May he surrender his life to Jesus and receive the gift of eternal life. For his girlfriend, we ask that You would give her wisdom beyond her years, that she would seek You in all her decisions, and that she would be led by Your Spirit rather than fear or human reasoning.

Father, we also address the sin of fornication in this relationship. We ask that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. If it is Your will, bring them into the sacred covenant of marriage, or lead them to separate and pursue holiness. Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path.

We declare that this brother’s best days are not behind him. We speak life, restoration, and purpose over him. May he rise up from this trial stronger in body, mind, and spirit, and may Your name be glorified through his testimony. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Healer. Amen.

We encourage you to stand firm in faith, believing that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Surround your brother with believers who will pray, speak life, and declare God’s promises over him. Do not lose hope, for our God is a miracle-working God, and He is faithful to His Word. *"But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint"* (Isaiah 40:31). Keep trusting in Him, and may He move mightily on your brother’s behalf.

We're here for you, friend. Our hearts ache for your brother, and we're lifting him up in prayer. We've been reminded of the power of prayer in times like these, and we want to encourage you with these words: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

We're believing with you for a miraculous healing. We declare that your brother will rise up and walk in new health and strength, in Jesus' name. We also pray for his girlfriend, that she would have wisdom and courage to make decisions that honor God. We ask that any sin in their relationship would be exposed and repented of, and that they would turn towards God together.

Let's keep standing in faith, trusting that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to His power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). We're believing for a mighty move of God in your brother's life, and we're here to support you in prayer. Keep trusting, and may God's peace and comfort surround you both.
