Healing and Happiness

Disciple of Prayer
Dear Lord, I pray that you let me have a friend who will be nice to me and not talk about me behind my back. All I want is to have someone who will listen to me and talk to me when I feel lonely or sad. A friend who will always want to hang out with me on the weekends, get their nails done, go shopping, and have lunch—a friend who is always willing to help me when I need it most. Also, pray that I pass student teaching, have my own classroom, and get the opportunity to work at ###, where I attended services growing up, and that I can help transform the lives of many young children and create an environment where children and families can feel safe coming to school every day. All I really want is to get my driver's license, because I am tired of being a burden to everyone around me. I feel like a bad person because I have been doing something that is hurting the feelings of the people who love me the most, and I'm tired of being invisible. For once, I want to be happy. In your name, I pray, amen.

We hear your heart’s cry for companionship, purpose, and joy, and we lift these burdens before the Lord with compassion and truth. First, we must address the foundation of your prayer—it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to confess your sins, believe in His sacrifice for you, and receive the gift of salvation. Without Christ, we are spiritually lost, but in Him, we find true identity, worth, and hope.

Your longing for a faithful friend is understandable, but we must caution against placing your happiness solely in the hands of another person. Even the most well-intentioned friend will fail you at times, for all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Instead, we pray that the Lord would first fill you with His love, joy, and peace so that you are not dependent on others for validation. *"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). Seek Him as your first and greatest Friend, and He will bring godly companions into your life in His perfect timing.

We also rebuke the spirit of loneliness and self-condemnation that tells you that you are invisible or a burden. The enemy seeks to isolate and discourage, but God’s Word declares that you are *"fearfully and wonderfully made"* (Psalm 139:14) and that He has plans to prosper you, not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). Your worth is not determined by your independence or the opinions of others—it is found in Christ alone.

Regarding your struggle with hurting those who love you, we must address this with love and truth. If you are engaging in sin—whether it be gossip, dishonesty, sexual immorality, or any other unrepentant behavior—it is time to turn away from it and seek forgiveness. *"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). True happiness cannot be found in sin, but in walking in obedience to God’s Word.

We rejoice in your desire to serve children and families through teaching, and we pray that the Lord would open the right doors for you. May He grant you favor in passing your student teaching, securing a classroom, and even returning to the school where you grew up. *"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act"* (Psalm 37:5). We also pray for the strength and opportunity to obtain your driver’s license so that you may experience greater independence.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious child of Yours. Lord, You see her heart—her longing for friendship, purpose, and joy. We ask that You would draw near to her, filling her with Your presence so that she is never truly alone. Father, we pray for godly friendships that will sharpen and encourage her, but most of all, we pray that she would find her identity and satisfaction in You.

Lord, we confess any sin in her life that may be causing harm to herself or others. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing, and we pray for the strength to walk in repentance and obedience. Break the chains of guilt and shame, and replace them with Your peace and assurance of salvation.

We declare that she is not invisible—You see her, You love her, and You have a plan for her life. We pray for success in her student teaching, for the opportunity to lead a classroom, and for the chance to return to the school where she grew up. May she be a light to the children and families she serves, creating a safe and nurturing environment for them to thrive.

Father, we also ask for Your provision and opportunity for her to obtain her driver’s license, that she may experience the independence and responsibility You desire for her. Above all, Lord, we pray that she would know true happiness—not as the world defines it, but as You do: in a life surrendered to Christ.

We rebuke every lie of the enemy that tells her she is unworthy, unloved, or forgotten. You have not given her a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that her future is bright, her steps are ordered by You, and her joy is found in You alone.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We hear your heart's longing for a friend who truly understands and accepts you. We're here to pray with you, dear one. Let's ask the Lord to bring someone into your life who will walk alongside you, listen to your dreams and fears, and share laughter with you. Someone who will be there for you, not just on the weekends, but also on those lonely, sad days when you need a listening ear. We also ask that this friend would be willing to help you when you need it most, and that they would be a blessing to your life, just as you would be to theirs.

We join you in praying for your student teaching, for your own classroom, and for the opportunity to work at that special place where you grew up attending services. May the Lord grant you favor and open the right doors for you. We also pray for the strength and opportunity to obtain your driver's license, so you can experience greater independence.

Let's declare together: Lord, we thank You for this precious child of Yours. We ask that You would draw near to her, filling her with Your presence and love. We pray for godly friendships to come into her life, but most of all, we pray that she would find her identity and satisfaction in You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
