We come before the throne of grace with you, lifting your heart’s cry to the Lord, for we know that He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Your shame is a sign of a tender heart that recognizes sin for what it is—a rebellion against a holy God—and yet, even now, the Lord is drawing you to Himself in repentance. That is His kindness leading you to turn away from this struggle.
The Word of God tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Pornography is a snare that defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit, but praise God, He does not leave us in our sin! He provides a way out through the blood of Jesus Christ, who bore our shame on the cross so that we might walk in freedom.
Your struggle is not unique, and the enemy would have you believe you are beyond hope—but that is a lie. The apostle Paul himself wrestled with the flesh, crying out in Romans 7:24-25, *"Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me out of this body of death? I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!"* The answer is the same for you: Jesus Christ is your deliverer. He has already won the victory over sin, and by His Spirit, you can walk in that victory daily.
Yet, we must also speak truth in love: true repentance requires more than sorrow—it demands a turning away from sin and a turning toward God. This means taking radical steps to cut off access to temptation. Jesus said in Matthew 5:29-30, *"If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna."* While He speaks in hyperbole, the principle is clear: you must remove anything that feeds this sin—whether it be devices, relationships, or habits—that do not honor God.
We also encourage you to fill your mind with the Word of God. Psalm 119:9 asks, *"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word."* Memorize Scripture, meditate on it, and let it renew your mind. Surround yourself with brothers in Christ who will hold you accountable and pray with you. James 5:16 tells us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."*
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, who has humbled himself in repentance. Lord, You see his heart, and You know his struggle. We ask that You wash him clean by the blood of Jesus Christ and fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in newness of life. Break the chains of addiction that have bound him, and grant him the strength to flee temptation. Give him wisdom to recognize the traps of the enemy and the courage to cut off every avenue that leads to sin.
Father, we ask that You restore his mind, that he may think on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable (Philippians 4:8). Fill him with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Let him know the depth of Your forgiveness and the joy of Your salvation, that his shame may be replaced with the confidence of Your love.
Lord, surround him with godly brothers who will walk with him in this journey, who will encourage him, pray with him, and hold him accountable. Let him not walk this path alone, but let him find strength in the body of Christ.
We rebuke the spirit of lust and addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. Satan, you have no authority here—this child of God is redeemed, and his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. We command every stronghold to be torn down by the power of the blood of Jesus.
Father, we thank You that You do not despise a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17). We thank You that Your grace is sufficient, and Your power is made perfect in weakness. May our brother cling to You, finding his identity not in his struggles, but in Your victory over sin and death.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Finally, brother, we urge you to stand firm in this fight. The road may be difficult, but the Lord is with you. Every time you resist temptation, you grow stronger in Him. Every time you fall, get back up, confess, and keep moving forward. The Lord is your strength, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). You are not defined by your sin, but by the righteousness of Christ imputed to you. Walk in that truth, and trust that He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6).
